Hi, I’ve been using SD2 for years and was always happy with it once I got over the learning curve. I’m still trying to navigate SD3 but I’m mostly pretty happy with it so far.
The only exception is that I really fell in love with the Slingerland 70’s snare from SD2. I poked around the forums and found out how to load that into a kit that’s got SD3 sounds for the rest of the pieces so that was really nice, but the snare from SD2 is roughly 8dB hotter than the snares in the SD3 library. I’m trying to A/B new snare sounds with the Slingerland 70’s but it’s really hard to do when I have to ride the faders so much.
Is there any way to reduce the volume of the SD2 snare sound so I can quickly switch back and forth between it and newer SD3 snares?
Thanks!
Andy
That goes for all the SD2 samples. I’ve built a few kits with both SD2 and SD3 samples and always have to drop the level of the SD2 samples a lot. I don’t think we have had an explanation of why this is so.

Hello
I purchased the Hansa extension yesterday (excellent snare sounds) and want to add cymbals from sd3 core library. The volume of these cymbals is so low, I can hardly hear them, increasing the cymbal volume helps but is far from being sufficient.
Is that a Hansa extension problem or am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to increase the volumes for non Hansa instruments?
Thanks and BR
bernhard
Hansa is more pre-processed than the core library. You would have to apply some typical standard processing such as EQ and compression to help them sit in.
