Hi,
I haven’t really bothered too much with mastering my mixes before, but as I have a Mastering II pack I thought I’d test drive a few patches on the Master Bus.
The piece is all guitar and drums, so I’m already using a lot of processing. However I noticed that with most mastering patches, the dynamics seem to go! Everything seems louder and the metering doesn’t move much.
That’s not what mastering is about, I’m sure! Lots of stunning music and songs have many dynamics. Do you think I using the Mastering patches incorrectly? Can anyone point me to a Mastering video?
Thanks
Hi,
how hard to you hit the input of the EZmix 2 insert? Which DAW are you using? What are your Peak and LUFS values before and after EZmix 2?
BR,
John

Hi John,
Thanks for replying. I’m using Logic, and in terms of technical capability I would say I’ve a way to go. I wasn’t eve aware of LUFS to be honest!
Attached is a screen shot – you can see where I inserted EZMix to use a mastering preset. The VU meters, as you see them, are fixed with the preset switched on – they don’t move at all! When I switch it off, there is some natural movement. In this case I was trying out Metal Masher 1 – not for any particular reason – I was just flicking through options to explore possibilities.
Thanks
Ok, I just dialled down the input knob on the preset itself… there is movement again ?
I need to rethink my use on individual tracks too after this, all of the inputs on my deployed EZMix patches are at their default setting…?
