Hello,
I have a problem regarding MIDI Mapping / articulations switching without me switching them:
I created a custom kit with added, swapped and stacked kit pieces. Great possibilities in SD3!
I mapped the notes to a layout I can play on my keyboard easily, especially I mapped Snare Center to 52, Snare Off Center to 50 and Snare Edge to 48.
I posted a 60 second video showing the problem: https://youtu.be/0W0hhIeCKcI
Now when I play the Center articulation note multiple times, SD3 alternates between Center and Edge.
When I play the Edge articulation note multiple times, SD3 also alternates between Center and Edge.
When I play the Off Center articulation note multiple times, SD3 alternates between Off Center and Edge.
(These alternations are audible and
they are visible in the MIDI Mapping Keys window and
they are visible in the articulations window of the selected kit piece (in the top right corner of the main window.)
I tried the following:
– I deleted all other note mappings from those 3 articulations from the MIDI Mapping box (so there is only the chosen note mapped to each articulation: Center = 48, Off Center = 50, Edge = 52).
– Checked the MIDI Monitor window: Only the correct note is shown (e. g. multiple times note 48 Note on & off like I play), but the MIDI Mapping Keys window shows that SD3 alternates between 48 (Edge) and 52 (Center).
– I checked the MIDI In/E-Drum window: There is no mapping change to those three notes: 48 in to 48, 50 in to 50, 52 in to 52.
– I turned off “Alternate Hits” in the tab “Hit Variation”. => This fixed the issue, but it obviously turns off any alterations / round Robins, because now I get the machine gun effect (which is obviously not what I want: I want all the Round Robins (that’s why I left Adjacent Layers and Randomize Hits and Velocity to Volume on and only turned Use Alternate Hits off)).
When I click the Snare with the mouse, this alternating between Center and Edge also happens, when I click an articluation from the “All Articlutions” dropdown also (yes, I click Center and I hear and see Center, I click Center again, and I hear and see Edge!)
– When I add a new second note to Center, e. g. 57, when playing that note multiple times SD3 also alternates between Center and Edge, so the rror is somewhere deeper, as newly mapped notes are also affected.
– When I clear all mappings from that note and trigger the Center articulation repeatedly from the “All Articulations” dropdown with the mouse (the Center articulation is now under “Not MIDI-Mapped”), only Cneter is triggered, no articulation. Assigning a note activates the alternating triggering (with the mouse and with the keyboard) again.
When I load a completely new preset the Snare works as expected, but noiw I have destroyed my custom kit and it’s mapping.
Therefore I need to understand which setting I have messed up to prevent this to happen again.
Thank you for your help,
Andi
