Map multiple Instruments to same note

Just wanted to confirm that it is not possible to map two instruments to one incoming midi note. Example is I want my Snare on my Ekit to trigger the Snare and Third Tom in EZD3.

Tried on SD3 as well, I’m thinking this is not an intended workflow.

Maybe there’s a workaround without having to use multiple instances inside a DAW?

You are correct. That is note possible.

While not possible in EZD3, it is certainly possible within a DAW. DAWs such as Logic Pro X have MIDI transformers and scripting abilities that you can use to generate multiple notes.

And as you mentioned SD3, you would use its stacking capabilities to trigger multiple kit pieces.

Would it be possible to make 2 stereo EZdrummer Tracks, then track stack them and on the 2nd Track turn every instrument off in EZDrummer except that tom and learn it to the snare? This is in response to OP. Not sure if 2 EZdrummer tracks would be efficient though.

Not stack them on the same track, but two different tracks. This is how I’m blending sounds already.

Do you use EZDrummer on both tracks? How do you set up the tracks midi without a Stack? I did similar with EZDrummer Multi out then did Track Stack then created another track with Drum Kit Designer and placed it in the stack. Of coarse I had to set up the track to one midi note, because Drum Kit Designer won’t let you turn off  drums that you are not using like EZ3 does.

Track stacking in Logic is two different track controlled by a single MIDI region.

It is possible. This is happening for me, even though I dont want it to. Some drums play together and I cant get them separated. Its really annoying! 😄

Any ideas?

Hi, mapping one note to two instruments is not possible, so the first thing to check is X-talk. Record the MIDI when you get two triggered instruments, inspect the MIDI and check for which other note is triggered. Adjust X-talk settings in your module. If adjusting X-talk settings doesn’t work, I have seen strange things happen with faulty cables.
