    Hi,

first of all, I would ask you to update to the latest available version, currently 3.3.6. Now, let’s see if I can answer your questions:

When you start with an empty kit, it still depends which library you have active, as it ‘sets the stage’ so to speak. If I clear the Kit with Area 33 loaded, I have 15 Cymbal slots and 8 Tom slots to start from,  as opposed to e.g. the American EZX who has 3 Cymbal slots and 2 Tom slots.
Of course, you can always add new Instruments and assign notes and Microphone Outputs, etc but I digress. I would rather suspect that updating to the current version has more to do with not hearing certain Instruments when auditioning but it *could* have something to do with an auto-assigned microphone being Muted in the Mixer.

Also, if you started with a Preset that had EQ/FX/Sends and Busses active, clearing the Kit doesn’t clear those.

If you run into unexpected output problems, please right-click the Instrument in question and check the Microphone assignments. Don’t forget you can create a new Mixer channel for an Instruments Close and/or Bleed signals.

The plug-in itself needs to be inserted on a Stereo Instrument Track and the first two outputs of the plug-in are hard-wired to 1+2.
Due to many compatibility challenges, all the outputs from the plug-in are Stereo. This *can* be circumvented, though.
Different hosts handle splitting the Stereo outputs differently, though. In Pro Tools it’s very easy, in Logic it’s not. I wrote a lengthy post with an example on how to set that up a while ago, if you want to check that out (it involves the Logic Environment). I have not done this in Ableton but I *think* you need to use the ‘Mono’ utility in the Mixer.

    BR,
    John

Thank you very much that appears to have done it! I updated and seleted the metal foundry and was able to select all drum and cymbal sounds when constructing a kit and it didn’t do the weird stuff where it applied all kinds of eq’s and effects and such without me touching them. Thanks!
