After getting Area 33 SDX I’ve been getting into using the various kits but wanting to maintain the original mixer setup that I use. Now I know there’s a global option to to keep output routing upon preset change. There’s also an option when loading presets to load parts of a preset and one of those options is to load (or not load) the mixer. Where I am having trouble understanding things is are these two options accomplishing the same thing and does one option override the other? With 40 some odd channels in the mixer it’s impossible to make a readable screenshot of each entire mixer. OSX won’t allow me to open two separate instances of SD3 in standalone mode.

They are not accomplishing the same thing. One of them is keeping your mixer routing as you change presets while the other is loading in a mixer routing into an existing preset. It’s difference, and I would go as far to say value, is probably not apparent to you since you don’t mix inside Superior Drummer.

True that I don’t mix in SD3 but I rely on SD3 giving me the same outputs and that’s where I have the question. Which setting to I rely on to keep the same outputs? I use multi-channel outputs. You don’t say which setting is accomplishing what you mention.

My apologies for not being explicit enough. Lack of sleep this past weekend. Maintaining output routings will keep the routings when you change presets. Load parts will load different routings onto an existing preset. So all depending on whether you want to change presets and keep the routing you are using, or whether you want to import the routing from a different presets will dictate the functionality that you will use. Hopefully that helps.

Thanks for the explanation. It’s things like this that could use a better explanation in the manual and I think you know how I’ve railed on about the state of SD3 documentation and how it could be improved.
