Hi I am having problems with the macros keeping the settings I have given them.
Scenario: I create macros on a kit and they work great. Save as a user preset. I then open another preset but drum only and the Macro works on them ok so then I save as and overwrite. I test it all out and works great. I even jump between presets and ok.
Next time I open SD3 and open a preset the macro seems to stop working. I look at the macro and it seems ok then I move the macro control and notice it doesn’t move the control it’s setup to do on all the drums. I look at it again and the settings are changed. I thought it was me but I have reproduced this now.
Pictures attached are Macro1,2 and 3. The first shows When I open the preset. The 2nd shows that I have selected Rim only on Tom 1 and I have also moved the control but nothing has happened. The level does not move. The third picture shows the macro once I close it’s window and open it again (only the macro not SD3) All the parameters have changed.

Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
Support can you let me know when your looking at this and advise if I am doing something wrong. I have spent hours creating and then recreating so before I go any further I need to know if it’s a bug, limitation or me. Thanks
Mark

I’m moving this back to the top as it seems to be getting missed by support

I am looking into this subject.
* I put a macro on the level on the snare
* save it as a user preset “test1”
* Loads the drums only, by using Load Parts…, from another preset
* I save this as “test2”
I close Superior Drummer 3, open it again – and both presets “test1” and “test2” has its macro knob working correctly.
Does this scenario work for you?
Do you only save Drums and Mixer User Presets, or do you save/load projects anytime (from the File menu)?

This is only when I use Stacking as far as I can see. I tried your single one on the snare and that was ok between kits. My scenario is:
All 5 Toms stack Rim only onto Rimshot.
Select 1st tom and select rim only create Macro for Rim only Level
Select 1st Tom and select rim only create Macro for Low to high Velocity
Select 1st Tom and select Rimshot and create Macro for Low to high Velocit
Select 1st tom and select Rimshot and create Macro for switching Velocity curve on/off.
Repeat for all Toms. Test all scenarios on all toms. Save Preset all.
Open another drum set with 5 toms but drums only.
Test it on that drumset and it looks to work so save a preset.
Later when opening the preset again I see the results you see in my last screenshot.
I did start using projects and I have my kits without macros saved a projects without the stacked rims as I didn’t want to corrupt them

What control do mean with “Low to high Velocity”?

Velocity gate for that part of the stack. I’m trying to achieve being able to lower and higher the velocity gate between the Rimshot and Rim only on all 5 toms on any kit. Also trying to adjust the level of the rim only on all 5 toms on any kit. I created the other two macros to be able to disable the rim only and make the velocity gate on Rimshot go from 0 to 127.
Also to make sure SD3 doesn’t get confused I made sure that all kits have all 5 toms loaded and all 5 toms are stacked with Rimshot and Rim only.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at it!

Mark, I can reproduce your woes. It is a nasty bug. You can possibly
work around it using the following non-obvious method:
1. Select the kick and use ‘Search For Instrument’ to load one of the
SD3 Core lib toms in that position, instead of a kick drum.
2. Clear and remake your Macro knobs.
3. Save that as a preset. (knobs are now volatile)
4. Load that preset. (knobs ‘form’ according to the ‘kick’ and become resilient)
5. Change the kick back to a kick.
6. Save that preset and you are good to go.

Hi Olle
So is this due to be fixed in the 1st update?
With the workaround does this also work when I want to use the macros on another kit or would I have to clear them all again?
If this is fixed would it then break the macros I have created?
If I have to re-create for each drum set then I will probably hold off until there is a fix in place as it is very time consuming.
Thanks
Mark

Unclear

Once done the macros should be in better shape and you can
use them for other kits.

I hope not…

Hi Olle
This is also showing a bug as well. This time they are persistent but keep switching from Rimshot to Centre. So I did exactly as you said and all looked well but when I loaded again the Macro does not empty but it changes the value to centre. So screen shot before I move the control and then after. This again is not on all the settings or at least not on first opening again.
Just to say I did this a couple of times just in case it was me recording the wrong values

Yes, that is harder to get around. You can get the stacks to work
but articulations other than the first won’t work until a fix is out.
Thanks for trying the workaround and confirming the nature of the issue!

Thanks for help. It would be good to get this fixed as it’s the first thing I have tried with macros and it doesn’t work. I’ll leave them alone now until fixed. Cheers

I understand this wasn’t in the 1st fix. Do you know if this will be in the next fix? Thanks
