I believe I have a pretty decent set up with a Mac Mini 2018 i5 with 32gb RAM, Roland TD27 serums and a Roland Octa Capture sound card. Recently I tried to track with SD3 in Logic with 64 samples to get latency as low as possible but I occasionally get glitches. Setting samples to 128 everything works better but the latency increases. When watching the CPU load on the cores while tracking in Logic with 64 samples I notice there is only one CPU core working while there is no activity in the other cores. Is this due to the fact that SD3 can utilize only one core while inside a DAW?
Are there anyone out there who has any hints or tips on how to get my system working better while tracking with SD3 within Logic with my TD27 kit?
Although you are able to set Logic to use multiple cores when an Instrument track is selected, it could possibly aggravate your situation. The Octa Capture is USB which is going to cause audio issues at 64 samples. 128 samples shouldn’t be noticeable as far as latency is concerned (you may have other factors at play, if you are noticing any latency at that setting).
