I’ve just pressed the button on an M1 Mac and I use EZDrummer almost exclusively.

They must update to silicon soon otherwise they will be excluding themselves from a huge section of the music software market.

In fact if you are reading Toontrack, being one of the first out the door with a native M1 system might boost business never mind prevent losing it!

I’m using EZDrummer 2.2.1 on an M1 Mac Mini right now, as a VST plugin inside Studio One. It runs under Intel emulation but works perfectly – I haven’t noticed any issues at all.

Same here. Using a 2011 iMac with 16 GB and 2 TB SSD + 2 TB HDD and it works fine for now. Only issue is with my Graphics card, which had to be repaired and I can’t do any heavy video stuff on it. So I was looking at the M1 machines but I’m still very hesitant to buy the M1 until everything is compatible. Might work out better to hold off for some time since I believe Apple is going to release new M1X or M2 machines in a few months.

Hey Toontrack–I’m considering investing in more of your products, but it sounds like M1 support is bad right now. What is your timeline for native support?

    For sure it works. But…………

its impossible to install other EZX Soundexpansions like
    REGGAE EZX or
    ACTION! EZX
    because in the description says:
The developer must update this app to work with this version of macOS. For more information, contact the developer.

    That’s not fair. Maybe……?

Well, the first product to support Silicon Native is EZkeys 1.3.1, which is available in the Product Manager, so my guess is that you will see an Ezdrummer 2 Silicon Native version late summer.

    Guys, what do you think:

My Current System: 2013 Mac Book Pro, 2,6 GHz Quadcore, 16GB RAM

It´s time to get a new system which will be a Mac Book again.

But should I wait until Apple puts the m1 into the 16″ inch Mac Books or would a 13″ be a timewarp for me anyway?

The Thing is that my current Mac Book starts to get slower sometimes due to no obvious reason and actually I wanted to wait until the bigger Mac Books will be updated with the m1. But I´m afraid I cannot so much longer…

    Greetings,

    Nik

I am sort of in the same situaton, I’ve a 2014 iMac, which is still holding it’s own, but I see the sunset for it coming soon. Unfortunately the current lineup of M1  machines are not anywhere near the capacity (RAM) I need, therefore I am waiting for the next release of machines aimed at the pro user.

If you can wait some more months wait for the new M1X Macbooks from Apple.

I also switched from a Macbook Pro 2013 to the M1 and the difference is everything is just huge, even when the Toontrack Apps are not working as good as they could with native M1 support 😉

I also running Logic Pro with 12 tracks and 20+ plug-ins on a 16GB model without any problem. I don’t think that Ram will be a bootle neck.

I would not buy a new MacBook Pro right now. The M1 MacBook Air is an amazing little machine, but it’s ceiling of 16GB of RAM and 2 port config makes it a hard tool to use for audio production.

The M1 series 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro’s are rumored for Q3 of this year (sometime between July and Sept). If you can wait that long, I would.

Having decided to wait for the next M1 machines with perhaps bigger screens, which are now delayed, I’m worried that Monterey will arrive first. I thought the problem was not running on Apple chips but running on Big Sur, then we’ll have to wait until they run on Monterey. I may be wrong about that last part so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Doesn’t look so good for EZdrummer and the M1 yet.  Has anyone at Toontrack chimed in on this at all?  It does seem to run better on Logic, but I’m wanting to get away from Logic and use Studio One.  I also own Protools – anyone tried it there?

Is there an update to M1 compatibility since March?
