When I’m at rehearsal my mixer levels are not that loud, so when I’m in the drum window if I accidentally click on a drum, the sound it makes full blast is so loud it scares everybody. Is there anyway to adjust that volume.

If there is I’ve not found it. A mouse only has one velocity to it unlike a drum pad so you only get one level. The only thing I’ve found that changes IS the mixer channels or the output slider.

Hi Lobstafari,
You could adjust the velocity curve in the drum view property box, but you would be cutting off the higher velocities. When you click with the mouse, you are auditioning the maximum 127 velocity hit of that articulation. Select all instruments in the kit by holding shift and clicking on all instruments, then find the Velocity Curve property box and drag the dotted line towards the bottom to exclude some higher velocities if you do not want them to trigger.

Thanked by: Lobstafariauditioning the maximum 127
But that would affect the velocity of all grooves ?
Why the auditioning velocity is set at maximum 127 and there aren’t a setting for it is a total mystery or in fact plain incompetence from the developers !

Superior Drummer 3 version: 3.3.1
Operating system: macOS High Sierra (10.13)
There should really be a “Audition level” in the settings 0-127.
How hard could it be ?
But SD3 is just 5 years old so I guess there’s room for improvements

I agree and I made a post on this as well. I have to lower the master volume just to be able to click on a drum and it sucks having to do this every time. A master “auditioning level” is the greatest idea ever. Toontrack hook it up PLEASE!

Just as obvious as a “Zoom to Loop” button
All professional timeline based software has it , except Toontrack’s SD3

Solution: I use an Akai Midi Mix controller with gig performer for live performance. I mapped the main audio volume of SD3 to macro parameter 1, then made it so that the upper limit is 0 dbs. Then I mapped macro paramter 1 to a widget in performer, and then mapped that widget to the fader on the midi controller. Now when I need to click on an instrument I can just reach over and slide the fader down, do what I have to do, then slide the fader all the way. The upper limit ensures that I always go back to 0db and its super easy.

After more than 5 years there are still lots of flaws and bugs in SD3 not taken care of !
A competent developer would have fixed the most obvious bugs and flaws within months !
Not so with Toontrack !
I can in no way recommend this product !

I can recommend it as a brilliant sounding drum instrument which is fantastic to play with edrums. I don’t use sd3 for midi I use my DAW and it works perfectly. It may be missing a few DAW features but it is not a DAW.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
Haha ok dude, whatever. SD3 is tha bomb, I recommend it all the time. I don’t know what else you would even recommend as nothing even comes close.

I agree it’s really great sounding but at the same time there are major flaws in other departments that the lazy assed developers could easily fix and should and could have been fixed years ago !
But they simply just ignores us users !
They simply don’t listen to us !
That’s why I can’t recommend this product any longer !

Hi all,
I have forwarded your ideas as a feature request to the development team! A preview-level slider/control sounds like a cool idea.

Yeah great !
Better late than NEVER !
You’re only 5 years ( FIVE YEARS ) late !
Seems like your development team gone fishing for the last 4 years !

Petter, is there a place to formally request features so I can add this or can you forward this for me?
It would be so great if there was a user kit selection that could be changed by a dial that could be assigned to a macroparameter. Then drum sets could be selected via a midi controller (or in my case by rackspace variations within gig performer). the advantage is to be able to change the drum sets without having to have a separate plugin instance running, or by having to to actually and go in and click load the set while on a gig.

You can request all you want but to get something actually implemented is pretty much hopeless!
