At a rehersal the other day, I was all set up and had been playing, then between songs a few times, I had no output and noticed the audio engine, or whatever you call it at the bottom right appeared to have lost connection. I had to close the program and reopen it to fix the issue. I thought it was that my computer was going to sleep, changed some power settings and it was fine. Played a full gig on Sat no issues, then Saturday night it happened like 5 times, during a show. Awful. I don’t know what made this start happening. I have the computer set in airplane mode, nothing else is running, that I can tell. I can hear the audo start breaking up sometimes before it happens, other times it just cut totally. When I click on the audio setting, it’s already got ASIO and my Roland SPD 20 selected, but restarting the software was the only fix I could find at the time.
The computer hasn’t had an issue running it in the past. It is less than a year old Lenovo Gaming 3 with 16gb of ram and a modern ryzen 5 processor, which should be ok. Looking for some trouble shooting ideas. Maybe adjust the sample rate? Monitor hardware performance when it’s happening? Cables? That’s where I’m about to start, unless there’s a known issue I should be aware of?
Thanks!
First, update to the latest audio drivers for your audio device.
Do you have any power schemes active? Or anything like ‘release audio driver when inactive’?
Also, It could be an issue with a cable, USB port, USB hub, or similar, causing the standalone to lose its connection to the device.
Some other applications may be taking playback/recording device priority over SD3.
Open the Sound Control panel, to do that press the Windows button + R.
Then copy and paste the following command:
control mmsys.cpl sounds
Right-click your audio interface/audio device that you are using in SD3 in the Playback tab, go into Advanced, and uncheck Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.
Do the same in the Recording tab as well.
Then restart your computer and try again, did that fix the problem?
