I am trying to use ezdrummer in logic express 8.0. From the research I have done, I think I want to use separate tracks in EZD as auxiliary tracks in logic. I see that the way to do that is to have multichannel outputs in the EZD mixer, and then click on the + button on the EZD column in the mixer view in logic. The problem is, there is no + sign. Logic’s manual says the + sign only appears when there is a multi output instrument channel. I am not sure why EZD is not being recognized as a multi output instrument channel. Is anyone else having this problem? If not, did you do anything in EZD to indicate that you wanted multitracks, besides just going into the mixer view and changing it there? Did you need to “save” the settings or something?
Also, I want to program every beat individually, rather than use the library. I assume I need to do this all in logic, not EZD. If so, is the piano roll the best place to do that?
Also, can I adjust the velocity of the hit within a song? Is it possible to have some of the song be a lot softer than the rest?? If so, how do I do this in logic?
I realize this is a lot to respond to. An answer to any of my questions would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Chris
Chris,
please rescan EZdrummer in your AU manager (also make sure you have the latest version).
Then when you insert EZdrummer you should have 2 options; Stereo and MultiOut and you pick the MultiOut.
For the logic editing of MIDI I do recommend reading the MIDI part of the Logic manual, it is worth it and does not take long.
