1st: How do I get EZplayer to follow the track in logic. I want to hit play in logic and have EZplayer start playing so I dont have to quickly hit play on that too. its pretty annoying. I heard this might be a bug… but maybe I missed something. anyone having this issue? I apologize if this has been talked about already.
I’ve tried mapping the master play to a key but its totally inconsistent and only sometimes plays when I hit spacebar. not only that but for some reason even though I have auto rewind on it keeps remembering where it past was and going back to that even though Im hitting play again. weird.
2nd: This is just a simple logic question. with EZplayer, in order to hear what is being played the S2.0 track has to be record enabled. how do I make it so that it does not have to be record enabled and will still play. its terribly annoying because if I click on another track it will turn of record mode and I cant hear the drum samples anymore!
Thanks for all your responses!

The easiest solution is to drag the midi file that you want from EZplayer pro and place it onto a track in Logic.
M1 Mac Mini • 16GB RAM • OSX 14.2.1 • UA Quad • Logic 10.8 • Kontakt 7 • Toontrack SD3
to me that seems like the wrong solution. I really want to use ezplayer to figure out all the droms for the song. then tweak them later, change sutuff around, do whatever. dragging and dropping would mean that each time I want to edit something I have to go back to exzplayer, edit it, then drag it onto the track.
To me it just doesn’t make sense! The rest of the program does. If it doesn’t sync, well then I guess I have to just live with that. to bad though. feels like a pretty important feature.
Are you using EZPlayer or EZPlayer Pro?
There has been an update to EZPlayer Pro (1.0.1) that has new sync to host features.

using EZplayer pro. just realized that that was updated too! I had downloaded tie S2.0 update and didnt realize the EZplayer was updated! just downloaded it but cant find this “sync to host” feature…
please tell me where it is. Im excited 🙂
EDIT
HOLY CRAP. found it! awesome. that solves one of my questions. now if someone can solve the other logic question S2.0 and superior will be PERFECT!!!
ANOTHER EDIT
AWESOME. just tried it out. its near perfect with a feew slight sync issues now and again which are super minimal. fantastic. Thank you so much Toontrack. this is exactly what I need to make EZplayer an important part of all my drum editing!!
About the record enabled thing. I don’t use Logic 8 but in Cubase there is a ‘Monitor’ button on the MIDI track to enable to hear the track instead of record enabling it. Is there a similar function button in Logic 8? I just took a look at the Logic manual and all of the pics in the manual dealing with VSTis all have the red ‘R’ button lit.Â

yah. its not the same in logic. I hope it exists! makes sense to have that feature though so its probably there somewhere…I hope.
how do I make it so that it does not have to be record enabled and will still play.
if it behaves the way you describe that means you haven’t follow the instructions outlined in the latest PDF manual as regards to setting up Logic.

Wasn’t aware there was a latest PDF! I’ll look into that tonight. I presume you are refering to one of the ones in the user area.
Thanks for your help. I’ll post my findings!
alright. found the PDF. Im having a hell of a time figuring out how to do this though. not very detailed at all. It expects the user to know the deep inner workings of logic. I know logic but not the clicks and pots window. Sure would be great if there was a better tuorial on how to set this up. Ill keep trying to figure it out….
I’ve spent some time trying to figure out the instructions and have given up. I really have no idea how to do what they are asking. it would be great if they were more detailed. Im now going through a learn logic tutorial DVD hoping that at some point during the DVD they will teach mean how to do understand that pdf and logic!
of course I need to get better at logic anyways so its not the end of the world. Just wish that pdf was a little more detailed.
FWIW, I just tried to follow the pdf and set up EZP Pro in Logic. Initial returns were not good. I need someone to dumb it down a shade as well.

iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz, 4 GB RAM
Logic Pro 9.1.5; GarageBand '11 6.0.4
Superior 2.2.3; SDXs (N.Y. Allaire, Avatar, Hit Factory, C&V, Metal Foundry, Evil Drums); Latin Percussion EZX; dfh Superior
it’s difficult to dumb down what is complexity inherent to the host and believe me it is already significantly simplified and miles away from what I would built for my own environment.
Anyway… in it’s simplest form you can just insert EZplayer on an instrument track and do the same with YFDS, then link the 2 objects with a virtual cable. That will work as far as browsing grooves to drag and drop in Logic but not for much else (using several drum samplers, or lock the Arranger to your song properly).
Ultimately I’m afraid that you must be familiar with the Logic environment which is documented in great details in the Apple provided manual. Yes that’s hard work but well worth the effort in the long run.

OK, I have put together a short walkthrough, essentially mimicking the instructions found in the Operation Manual. You can find it in the Free Download Area once logged in into your Toontrack account: EZPLAYER>HostStuff>Logic8>setup
there is no commentary at this stage. note that I don’t link channels 11 to 16 which I prefer to reserve for additional drum samplers. Here is an example of complete setup capable of driving 6 instances of MFDS (which is of course Superior!):

Rogue,
Your fantastic! Thanks so much for putting this together! Now THATs some serious customer support! 🙂
I will go through it tonight and fingers crossed it all works well.
BTW. Since you goys rock so hard at technical support and your updates seem to fly in so fast that both EZplayerpro and Superior 2.0 are near perfect I thought I’d just quickly hijack this thread and add my one gripe with EZplayer pro. The interface s fantastic but it has the one issue that lots of other old plugins have and that is that it cant be resized. it would really be nice to make it the full width of my screen if needed. especially if Im working on a whole song and want to see lots of stuff. Native instruments offers differnt size options on a lot of their plugins. Lots of people have giant monitors and would love to use them. sometimes I put EZplayer on a different monitor and would love to have it in a bigger window too.
anyways back to the thread!
Bump to Toontrack customer service. Thanks Rogue. Â
