Hi, I’m trying to route Superior drummer 3 (Core, Metal Foundry, and Progressive Foundry) to Logic Pro. I was able to route 16 tracks through multi channel out but I’m only limited to 16 channels. I was wondering how I could go beyond 16 multi tracks. I’m using a MacBook Pro M3 Max, 64 GB, and the audio interfaces are the Focusrite 2i4 which I’m having an issue with adding extra multi tracks, and the Focusrite 18i20 which I haven’t yet tried on. Any idea on how to add extra multi-tracks on logic with the 2i4?
At the moment it is not possible to have more than 16 multi-outs from Superior Drummer to Logic. Submit a feature request in the Requests and Feedback forum.

Midi out to a second instance of SD3 in your DAW… 16 more stereo channels. Haven’t done it myself but makes sense to me.

Thanked by: Scott EshlemanI suppose if bleed weren’t an issue, you probably could combine two instances in a track stack and control them both via MIDI on the stack itself. Each instance could response to a certain set of MIDI notes to fire off different kit piece articulations. You would then need to glue it together with some compression on the track stack bus. It could work, depending on the mix.

In most cases, the 16 stereo outputs that are available in Superior Drummer and EZdrummer will work perfectly in your DAW if you want to apply your own effects after the mixer in our plug-ins.
We do, however, understand that it may be desirable to be able to split the stereo channels into dual mono or to be able to get instruments that are typically recorded in mono on a mono channel in your DAW.
There is an option to enable mono outputs in the Settings > Advanced tab in our plug-ins, but this option only works in Nuendo and Cubase.
For other hosts, you are going to have to manually configure your routing to separate the stereo outputs into mono signals.
Routing Toontrack outputs to mono channels
The basic idea is that you configure the mixer in our plug-ins so that the two signals that you want to have in mono in your DAW are panned hard left or hard right on one stereo output, and then split the stereo outputs in your DAW so that you get two mono channels per stereo output in the plug-in.
For example, if you want your kick and snare on two separate mono channels, you can send them to their own output channel in the plug-in, panned like this. For demonstration purposes, we have chosen output channel 3/4.
Then, depending on the DAW that you’re using, you may be able to select channel 3 and channel 4 as separate mono-channel inputs to two mono bus channels or mono audio tracks. Done!
Hosts where additional steps are needed
Some hosts do not let you use channel 3 and channel 4 individually as inputs on a mono track or bus, they can only be used as a stereo group. One example is Studio One, click the button below to see more info. Please contact support with the button at the bottom of this FAQ if we need to add your host to the list.

I don’t think anything would be excluded, as you said bleed. Midi out to a new instance would result in both instances doing the exact same thing (if the same Project file was loaded). You would then simply select “none” when routing the the redundant channels from each instance. What do you think?

Thanked by: Bear-Faced Cow and Georges GholamIt would all depend if there was a channel out for the kit that has the bleed on it. As far as ambient channels go, you would need to duplicate them if you want uniformity across the instances.
If you use a track stack in Logic, there’s no need for the MIDI out capabilities in Superior Drummer if you put the MIDI on the main track of the stack. Both instances of Superior Drummer can respond to it in its own way. It’s no different than when I build layered instruments in Logic.

I may crack it open about the bleed channel you’re referring to.
Not all DAWs will stack midi instruments and let it pass through. Understood about Logic.

I’m keeping it relevant to Logic seeing as that is what the OP has indicated they are using.
