Why are you doing this the hard way? The Logic Drun Designer map in SD3 is all you need to work with Drummer. the only extras that you ever may need to add are the percussion MIDI notes, whic you can then save as a user map.

    Hello there.

I tried your suggestion before coming up with the mapping. I just felt that the Drummer grooves didn’t translate very well, especially regarding the hi-hat. So I tried the mapping thing. Maybe you’re right and I’m being too picky, I don’t know, but I’m hardly the first person to try it. There are a few user scripts floating around for the same purpose, some much more sophisticated, where you can select between SD, or Slate Drums, Addictive Drums, etc.

The main thing, I think, is the Articulation ID’s that Drummer uses. I’m not sure if the Toontrack provided mapping has those in account. Maybe it has, as I said, I’m still just experimenting. This way it just moves the mapping to Logic and you don’t have to mess with SD’s mapping, just a different way, I guess…

Anyway, maybe it’s useless, but I’ll leave around in case anybody cares.

    Thanks for the input!

I’m not implying whether or not the script is useful. To me, the only useless script is a nonworking one.

However, from my years of experience of not only working with Logic’s drummer mapping, but also creating maps for other drum software to utilize Drummer, that there aren’t any perceivable issues with the drum map within SD3, other than missing future hit instruments such as tambourine, which are easy to add. SD3 maps very nicely to logic‘s drummer articulations and nuances. Dare I say better than the competition.  The only time you’ll ever really encounter a problem is when you go inside the nitty-gritty of drummer and really start messing with things.

AH, thanks for the script and the instruction!

Works perfect. At first after inserting the script –  there was no hihat at all, but then I found out I ran both the script and the Logic Drumkit designer drum map within SD3.

After having  unchecked “…use preset” in Midi e-drums settings in SD3, it  plays up the SD3 hi-hat articulation so much better.

    Big thanks!

Hey Ulf, I’m glad you found this useful! I had that same problem with the SD3 mapping just a few days ago, so I’m going to add it to the instructions. Thanks for the tip!

Oops, turns out I can’t edit the post. Weird… For anyone using this, check Ulf’s tip above.

In short, if you use the script with SD3 go to the settings and set the drum mapping to default or you won’t hear the hi-hat.

I haven’t seen any issue as far as “use preset…“ and the Logic drum designer map within SD3. Sounds more like some anomaly with the script itself.
