Locking in certain drum instruments when replacing the kit with another?

I took a different approach to this. I created a kit out of each of the kits in SD3 with no processing. I then use these kits and change the snare to the one I want to use. I can’t think of a way of locking down a snare if you then try to replace the rest of the kit but maybe there is a way.

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

    Interesting..

Funny, because Superior Drummer 2.0 has this feature – I can’t imagine them doing away with such a useful feature…

    You can do this by

    • selecting all instruments except the snare (easiest done by shift + clicking in the instruments list)
    • in Drums and Mixer preset menu, right click any preset and select Load Parts
    • Under Load Drums, select Only selected instruments
      • This will replace all instruments except the snare, since it’s selected

    Legend! thank you!

Do you know if it’s possible to lock the mixer routing while flicking through various mixer preset plugin configs? Or is the routing hard-wired to all mixer presets?

    thx

    mixer preset plugin configs

What preset do you mean by that? Can you describe it better, or add a screenshot?

Just meaning the routing Out1/2, Out 3/4  – does SD3 have a feature that can make that stay constant when loading a different mixer configuration?

In the Drums and Mixer preset menu; enable Keep Output Routing on Preset Change

I landed on this thread looking for a way to keep my percussion instrument loaded as I switch to a new preset.  Any user that is using something like a BT-1 to trigger percussion would almost certainly want that percussion instrument to remain loaded when loading a new preset.
