    Hi,

if I understand you correctly, you programmed your song in the standalone and saved as an EZdrummer 3 Project?

When you insert the plug-in in your DAW and then load the saved Project in the plug-in, your Song Track should be loaded as well. Please make sure the ‘Follow Host’ button is active.

If you would rather have your drum MIDI be played back from Reaper, you can drag the MIDI from the EZD3 plug-in Song Track to your EZD3 track in Reaper. If you do, the ‘Follow Host’ should not be active.

    Exactly what John said.

If you open a fresh project in Reaper and load EZD3 in this fresh project. Drag a few midi files into the EZD Song Track, does it still not work?

    Thanks for the reply.

Just to summarize: I made a drumtrack in EZD3 without opening EZD3 from Reaper. When I then try to open EZD3 from Reaper I am able to load in the drum track I already made in EZD3, but it doesn’t respond to me pressing play in Reaper.

When I activate “follow host” the tempo on my EZD3 track defaults to the tempo assigned in Reaper, when I already have a tempo assigned to the different parts I previously programmed in EZD3.

Regarding dragging the MIDI track from EZD3 to Reaper, is there a video that explains this?

Again, I am very new to this so I apologize if this has a super obvious solution that I’m missing.

That is how it is designed to work as a plug-in, it “Follows The Host”, which means your tempo changes need to be programmed in Reaper. EZD 3 cannot transmit tempo changes to your DAW, just the opposite.

If you have set the tempo with tempo changes on your EZD3 Song Track, I would suggest you Export the Song Track as a MIDI file from EZD3 and then just drag-and-drop that MIDI file from the Finder/Explorer to your Reaper Track. Reaper will ask you if you want to import the Tempo data.
If you do it this way, you should not have ‘Follow Host’ enabled if you still have MIDI on your EZD3 Song Track.

Bit of a late response, but here’s my take on it as a new user:

    – Eventually figured out that I had to activate the “Show track FX Window” button next to the track in Reaper with the MIDI from EZD3 for it to work.

    – The easiest solution in the end was to map out the tempo changes in Reaper, as mentioned by Brad.

Thanks a lot for the response to this thread, helped a newbie out a lot and I’m excited to continue using EZD3.

    Best regards – Kjetil
