When I start Logic (10.7.2 and previous); tracks with SD3 (latest and previous) and EZB are not activated until I select the tracks. For other software instrument in Logic, also third party, the software instruments are loaded if the track is set to “On”. Specially important when you start Logic to bounce out a mix and miss to go through all your SD3 and EZB tracks and select them just to activate the instruments.
You can circumvent this by putting an empty MIDI region at the beginning of your SD3 track in logic. You can also turn this behaviour off in the preferences, although I prefer to leave it on as this also works on buses and auxiliary channels which have no sends to them, which allows me to keep my standard UAD plugins on standby until needed.
