I’m having trouble getting two separate tracks in EZplayer pro, that are configured to output MIDI on separate channels, to be recognized in Live 8. Basically I’m trying to get one channel in EZPP to drive Superior Drummer and another channel to drive Battery 3. My tracks on EZPP are setup to output the first track to MIDI channel 2 (for SD 2.0) and the other to MIDI channel 3 (for Battery 3). I can’t, however, get either of the instrument plugin tracks to recognize that the EZPP track outputs multiple MIDI channels.
If you look in the EZplayer pro manual for configuring live, you drop EZplayer pro in one track and then drop YFDS in another track. In the YFDS track, you select the EZplayer pro track as the MIDI input but there’s no way to select a specific MIDI channel output by the EZplayer pro track. You’ve basically only got three options, “Pre FX”, “Post FX”, or “EZplayer”. It almost seems like Live 8 doesn’t seem to know that EZplayer pro can output multiple MIDI channels.
I’m on a Mac and I’ve tried the VST and the AU versions of the EZplayer pro plugin and they both do the same.
Has anyone figured this one out?
My bad. I see now on the product Compatibility page that MIDI channel filtering is not supported on Live. Rats.
that is correct. Technically however you should be able to route to multiple samplers using the Audio Unit on Mac however. That facility is not available to the VST and therefore to PC users, hence why we document our compatibility as such.
… I can’t give you specific instructions for what is essentially an unsupported workaround but I thought you might want to give it some efforts on your own as they would pay off 😉
