Try changing the kick drum’s velocity sensitivity in your Nitro Max controller.  On my Crimson II controller that’s accessible under the Kit / Trigger menu.  I would guess the Nitro Max controller is similar.

If you click on any drum in sd3 you can then lower the volume on the right. You can also apply a velocity curve which again is on the right side or draw your own curve to suite your playing. What velocity values is the nitro sending? Can you change the sensitivity on the module if it is sending high velocities all the time?

SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors

    OMG-

    I knew it was easy-

I’ve always thought that the kick and snare were always too hot in the presets, and I know that I saw it on a video somewhere but someone just saying, “Dude, do this it’s on the right” is a game changer.

    Thank you so much

    Hi Stephen,

just want to add that if you do this (edit the Velocity Curve) on the DRUMS page (which can work perfectly fine for you) it’s also affecting how the grooves in the MIDI library are played back. If you edit the Velocity Curve for e.g. the Kick on the MIDI In/E-drums Settings page, this is performed on the incoming MIDI from your kit and grooves from the MIDI Library are not affected.

If you only use SD3 for E-drumming, this might not be an issue for you.

    BR,
    John
