My searches show only trials of ezdrummer, ezkeys and ezbass. I’m not finding anything about expansion pack trials. Can you give us a link to one you’ve found?

I think the trials only referred to the main program itself, and not expansions.

However, if I were to recommend an expansion along the percussion line, it would be the Latin Cuban percussion EZX.

Thanks Jord, I suppose I’ll just bite the bullet and pay up for that one. BTW, what do you find that makes the Latin Cuban better than just the Latin? I guess they’re the same price, so ig Latin Cuban has more goodies on board it’s the one to go for?

    Jord,

I just noticed that Logic has Latin Percussion available within the Drummer and Drumkit Designer etc, so I’m going to muck around those before forking out $160 AUD on the EZX…

Indeed, I would agree that you should spend wisely. If Logic has exactly what you need then go with it. I’ve used the percussion in Logic for a number of songs before getting Latin Cuban Percussion.

However, seeing as you asked me why I like Latin Cuban percussion, I will gladly offer my brain droppings on it. Of course, keep in mind that anything I say is subjective. I would go as far as to say that it is not even about why I would think it is better than Latin Percussion, But more like why I Like  Latin Cuban Percussion overall.

aside from Latin Cuban, Percussion, being newer, I have a benchmark with it that I don’t have with the other EZX  ToonTrack made a video recorded at Sear Studio in which they intermixed a real life performance with the expansion and I like the way the expansion played in the same way that Richie Flores was hitting the instruments. That was the first thing that got me. I’ve used this expansion in a couple of songs and I love the way it cuts through the mix. I have a song coming up for release that uses this expansion and I love how it sounds. It is very dynamic, and I found out it gave the song a real lift. Just for reference, I used it in a pop/songwriter type of groove using the Session Players in Logic. I feel that it really shined.

Circling back to the First paragraph, I usually buy my expansions in bundles. Seeing as I can buy three expansions for the price of two. I bought this along with Both Signatures expansions. These three expansions are my most used with EZ Drummer. Quite often, I will use them together.

hope the above sheds, a little light into my madness.
