I really enjoy using the track building function in SD3. It’s much better than the drum editor in my DAW (Digital Performer), but unless I am missing something, there is 1 feature that I wish it had (not that it is available on DP). When I click and drag grooves into a track, I wish it brought with it the details of where the groove came from. For example, Music City, USA, Ballad, Straight 4/4, straight ballad, chorus 02. I would be great not to have to write these down so that I can use chorus 01 or 03 from the same chain for the next chorus, keeping similar grooves with varying complexity. I also tend to edit the grooves, and knowing what the original groove was would help a lot. Is this data stored somewhere on SD3 and I simply haven’t found it, or would this be a great idea for an update that others would find useful as well? For now I will continue to log these in a notebook, but hopefully you guys can tell me how to do it, or, this can be considered for future updates.
Hi,
you can right-click a groove on the SD3 Song Track and select one of the ‘Find’ alternatives.
If you drag a groove directly from the Groove browser in SD3 to your DAW, the name of the dragged part should include the path.
If you drag a groove from the Song track to your DAW, the name instead reflects the Song part, e.g. ‘Bridge’.
If you have unidentified Toontrack MIDI on your DAW track but not your SD3 Song Track, you can record it from your DAW to your Song Track and then use Tap2Find.
