Or so I hope.
But anyways, I’ve already been using superior drummer for awhile routed through an e-kit so as I can play on the e-kit using superiors samples and can hear said samples through headphones while playing.
My question though is if I were to buy EZmix could I essentially do the same with a guitar though?
I’ve got just a little m-audio fast track pro I use with the e kit, and as I’m typing this I realize my e-kit brain has the midi port that I use to connect to the audio interface…
Still the question is…Is there a way to plug my guitar into my audio interface and use something like EZmix to jam with through headphones? Or would I need to buy additional hardware to get this to work?
Hi,
it is definitely technically possible but you need to have a low Hardware Buffer size in your host and no other latency inducing plugins in the signal path.

Ok..but would i just plug a regular guitar cable into the audio interface, get ezmix up and running, and id be good to go?
For example i know meshuggah did a few videos of them playing some tracks using ezmix instead of amps…so how could i do the same?
And please dont respond with buy the ezmix guitar gods pack..i guess its more of hardware needed
I play guitar all the time through amp plugins, and EZmix is no different.
Just a regular guitar cable to the instrument in on your interface. Create a track in your DAW, throw EZmix on it. Make sure your DAW’s buffer is set to 128 or lower, or you’re going to hear the latency, and it’s pretty much impossible to play while hearing latency.
That’s it.

You could probably get away with double that (if that is your true return-trip latency with no plugin processing).
I see the plugin taking 132 samples latency (3ms) and 256 samples in-out is another 6ms. That’s only the same sound-path delay you’d experience standing 9 feet away from your cab while playing.
Some people can sense a 10ms delay, beyond 15ms it starts to get easily noticeable.
