Jazz Expansion Pack Question

This is not a really a support question.  I’m just curious about something.  The package credits Ray “Futureman” Wooten as the main contributor to this project “playing the sounds”.  It also credits David “Fingers” Haynes and Per Mikaelson as playing the MIDI files.  Just wondering what the difference is between playing the sounds and the MIDI files.

Futureman actually played the drums as they were first “sampled” or recorded .These are numerous single hits only and different velocities.
He did not record any midi Grooves/beats for the library,the iother dudes did .
So they played his samples on E Drums and the midi generated from their “playing was recorded and edited into what you get as “Midifiles”
