I’m tracking in Ableton using a Roland TD27 and SD3. I’m wanting to bounce all mic tracks as separate audio files for mixing. I export my final midi part from Ableton and drop it into a track on SD3. When I play it back in SD3, the hi-hat is in an ‘open’ position. It’s as if SD3 is not picking up all the hi-hat foot pedal information I recorded in Ableton. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I found a workaround. Rather than drag and drop the midi file from finder into the VST, I simply recorded the midi track from Ableton into SD3 in real-time – and the hi-hats behaved as they should. I’ll now be able to export the separate tracks and mix my song. Great plugin, I’m really enjoying all the sounds as well as the new Eddie Kramer pack 🙂
It does have me wondering if that might be a bug. Perhaps, try exporting your MIDI and import it into something like reaper and read the data to see if there is any cc information for the hi-hat.

Thanked by: Ben CrookHey Jord,
Thanks for your response. I took the file into logic and can see the foot pedal midi info has exported, but for some reason, it isn’t translating using this method. However, I’m perfectly happy to record my final parts in realtime from Ableton into SD3. I’ve attached my Midi clip and a screenshot in case anyone feels like having a closer look. The intro hi-hat should be closed, but when importing to logic or SD3 it sounds open.
Cheers,
Ben
I have the same issue I believe. I have midi data on a logic channel with superior drummer (SD3). Inside superior I have an export of the midi that is on the logic channel. When I mute the one inside SD3, the logic midi trigger a functioning hihat. When I mute the midi on the logic channel and use the same midi track inside of SD3, the hi-hat seems to have lost the foot pedal action. The notes are there but now I’ve lost the expression of the entire performance.

Ben Crooks you are a lifesaver. This is also a great way to share a midi performance with someone that deosnt have the same expansions.
