Here’s what I’m trying to do; I have a wav file of a drum track. It’s my drummer playing on one of our songs. In EZ Drummer 3, we want to recreate exactly what he played. Normally, I sit there and manually input each note (copying and pasting where possible). But I’m wondering, is there any way that I could import that wav (or mp3) file into EZ Drummer 3 and have it recognize the drums for me? Or, is there some other way that’d help me save time over drawing out each drum hit in EZ Drummer 3? I know how to have him record his electronic kit directly into EZ Drummer 3, but in this case, it’s not possible. All I have is the wav of his studio track.
I’ve never tried the Bandmate feature. Doesn’t that just suggest what it thinks is a drum part that will work with the rest of the instruments? I’m looking for a way to recreate as close as possible a drum track that is already done.
Bandmate isn’t made for what you want to do. What you are wanting to do is part of the Tracker feature in Superior Drummer 3.

Thanked by: Scott EshlemanMay be it works with Logic Pro X using the “convert Audio to Midi”-function. I did this with a Kick-Drum Audio WAV signal converted to Midi. It generates automatically another track with software instrument e.g. EZD 3 and you can select a Kickdrum from there. I can mix now the Original Kick drum with EZD 3 Kickdrum to get a nice sound.

Sure; if you have close-mic’d multi-tracks, an Audio-to-MIDI conversion could be the way to go…
but I think that the OP was referencing a full drum kit recording.

Thanked by: Bear-Faced CowYou could probably separate the stereo kit with the advanced editors in Melodyne with a bit of tweaking and export to MIDI and see if that works as well.
