I’m a pretty advanced user, and this is driving me nuts.
I’m in EZdrummer 3.1, and I’ve copied a groove that’s in the timeline at the bottom. Now I want to paste only the hi-hat from that groove onto another groove (that has no hi-hat at all, not that that matters). The destination groove currently has kick and snare only. So, I select the destination groove, control-click, and choose “Paste on Selected Groove” > Hi-hat. But instead of simply adding the copied hi-hat to the existing groove, EZd is erasing everything at the destination, leaving me with hi-hat only.
Clearly this is now how this is supposed to work. Is there a trick to this basic feature? What am I missing here?

P.S. The forum won’t let me upload the .ezd3p file. Go figure!!
You have to create a zip file for it.
But…. I didn’t know you were using the audio units version…. I just assumed standalone…. which I believe is vst. I can check that in Studio One….
Mac Studio M1 Max, RAM 64 GB, 1TB Drive, OSX 12.x/13.x and Windows 10 (VM)
DAW: Studio One Pro (always up to date)
DTX Express III (Extreme triggers), Nektar LX88
OWC Thunderbay Mini (4 X 1TB Sata SSD), Express 4M2 (4 X 2TB M.2 SSD), Envoy Express (1TB M.2 SSD)
Presonus Quantum, Faderport & Faderport 8
Black Lion Sparrow Mk2 A/D, FMR-RNP-RNC, MIDI Xpress 128, BM5A, KRK VXT4, Equator D5
2020 Macbook Pro 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD Audio(mobile rig)
I just tried pasting a hi-hat on a kick and snare groove and it worked without issue. I can’t get it to fail.
Again, I asked which grooves did you use that are giving you trouble?

I’ve had a go at what you’re doing. The instruments in the destination groove are all replaced by the hi-hat if I choose Paste on Selected Grooves > All.
Hey, Mick. While I appreciate your reply, the issue is not with “Paste on Selected Grooves > All.” The issue is with “Paste on Selected Grooves > Hi-hat” (or with other, individual instruments in that command). Thanks.
Hi there,
Can you save the EZD3 project, archive it (compress .zip) and post it here. I can not replicate the issue on any of my rigs, I have a 3.0.6 version and 3.1 and can not get it to misbehave like that.
EZdrummer version: 3.1.0
Operating system: macOS Sequoia (15)
Hey, folks, here’s an update on this issue, which I just received from Toontrack support (a composite of two replies from them):
—
“Paste on Selected Groove” does not work well on grooves on the song track after one of the two edges of the groove has been dragged so that the original length of the block has been changed.
Under these circumstances, using “Paste on Selected Groove” can incorrectly change the length of the block (internally), such that it may even overlap other blocks, or it can incorrectly move [or delete] the notes within.
This can also happen in other cases: For example, when a block is automatically made smaller to make room for another block. Additionally, merging blocks can also cause the resulting block to get into a similar, internal state. Merging is normally not a problem, but it causes “Paste on Selected Groove” not to work correctly on the merged grooves.
The coders are going to work on fixing this.

So, this was a complicated bug to track down. Please know that while I appreciated each of your efforts to attempt to replicate the behavior on your systems, I was under intense pressure with work deadlines and simply wasn’t able to follow up on each request. I knew the bug was real, but I didn’t know what the recipe was for making it rear its head on your systems. So, I simply had to wait for Toontrack to identify it—and now they have.
Thanks again for everyone’s help. Communities like this are invaluable.
