Bandmate is a great feature, but it would be very useful to be able to listen to the audio file also while you are working on the song track. It is in the song track that you are putting together the whole arrangement, and I don’t understand why it is not possible to have an audio track of your song running in parallell with the EZ song track – or am I missing something here?.
Paaly, most users do not use UZD3 in standalone mode, they load EZD3 into a DAW (Reaper, Pro Tools, Garageband, Logic) in which EZD3 syncs and follows the timeline in the DAW. This would be how to make EZD3 follow audio. Besides Bandmate, EZD3 will not playback audio (besides a one shot which is a different conversation).
If you’re unfamiliar with a DAW workflow, this video has a bit more advanced purpose, but you can see EZD loading into a DAW quite easily… https://youtu.be/IUOaysrX6Bo

Thanked by: Damir and paalyOh, thanks – that’s good news! I am a new to EZD and had the misconception that it was a standalone application only!
Looking very much forward to make EZD an integral part of my long time established DAW workflow!

THANKS SHOOTIE, ive seen all your online videos regarding EZD 2 & 3 and think they are great, but i am not a newbie when it comes to DAWS i started using Cubase and Protools when they were born and seen them grow through the years i have changed to use Logic Pro x when it came out and have stayed with it lately as a preferance, ive been a musician for 42 years and a TV Sound engineer for 32 years an electronic technician 10 years i have built sound equipment and am currently helping a software developer to design a fantastic Apple audio app for on stage backing needs, check it out STAGE TRAXX 3.
What i was trying to point out regarding EZD3 is that as a stand alone bit of gear it is not very well finished for users that want simlicity and speed to do a very simple thing, and thats to load an audio file in to it and place a very accurate drum beat behind it and save it.
Reason is , you cant hear the audio track behind the grid editor so if you drop down a basic midi track from Bandmaster and now want to perfect it you are running blind.
Why would you not want to hear your backing so you can perfect it?
I would not need a DAW if i could hear this audio as i have an onboard mixer and some effects , Fantastic sampled sounds , that dont need tweaking by me when greater experts in this field have already done the work for me.
Everyone has different needs and different speakers or sound listening devices so if there is a bit more bass on one of the toms it might be perfect when i run this sound through my Yamaha PA system, or my apple earbuds, oh gosh the cymbals are too this or that , i think the sounds are fantastic for my needs i just need a quick way to place the damn drums behind an audio track and not get bogged down with creating a monster setup with my DAWS that takes time and overcomplicates everything and doasnt achieve anything much better that a simple workflow thats very conveniant and fast.
So i ask again why has EZD3 been created when EZD2 does the same thing?
Bandmaster is the only difference, so why have this feature when its Legs and Arms have been chopped off in the stand alone mode?
Keep up the great work with the videos they do make a big difference for purchasing decisions, perhaps expose the weaknesses in software a bit more so buyers dont get dissapointed , the good stuff they can discover later if the bad stuff has not put them off.

Thanked by: ElvisXimenes, paaly and ShootieThere is not a way for EZ to sync with audio without a DAW without the bandmate feature. DAW is the only real solution.
Thanks for your kinds words!
I think you have a great request/point to make about the option to keep audio playing within EZ for the other tools. I’d have to say EZD3 is quiet a valid update compared to EZD2 regardless of the topic at hand though.
There’s one funny, yet interesting, comment I’ve been hearing around being “EZ DAW”. Maybe this is the solution for standalone users if Toontrack has been considering the gossip of its users that have been throwing the term around. I don’t see the need for myself, but many others.
Good luck on your app. I don’t currently have a use for live playback, but in today’s workflow, it’s only going to get more and more popular. SOUnds like a cool project.

As i use my DAW with EZD3 i am more dissapointed than ever.
Im using Logic Pro X.
Where do i start?
1. I cant drag and drop to and from the DAW , big bummer.
2. The two programs dont work together efficiently, and have stop start sync problems.
3. I cant simply resize EZD3 within my DAW, BIG BUMMER.
4. I now have 3 areas of operation WITH THREE PLAY/STOP buttons DAW, BANDMASTER, SONG mode, none of them are synced reliably or not at all so im bouncing, stumbling and juggling around like a JO/JO , its a very frustrating and slow workflow.
Ive only tried to do one job with this program and am totally frustrated by it, i have more bad news but have run out of time to write it down.
What were Eazy Drummer 3 designers thinking when they created a fantastic program with no final operational thought when used in conjunction with the most popular DAWS especially when used stand alone.
Sorry guys i will have to wait for some updates before i start using this software.
WHAT I EXPECT FROM EAZY DRUMMER 3
SIMPLICITY! After all it is called EAZY DRUMMER.
I want all areas of eazy drummer to be always in sync with the DAW, if i shift position in grid edit in easy drummer i expect my daw to follow and i expect song mode and band master to follow, everything should be in sync at all times no matter which area i work in.
I want one play / stop function in eazy drummer that operates on the window i am working in.
The DAW stop / start functions should be an exact mirrow of eazy drummer, the two systems should appear to be one at all times.
I want to hear band master function in song and grid editor mode and to be able to mute and unmute this function.
I want to load an audio track to bandmaster and add drums to it , or perhaps create my own drum track version from it so i can use it as a template with my own drumming version, this i expect to do in stand alone mode as i dont need a daw i have my audio track i have my song mode i have my grid editor I SHOULD NOT NEED A DAW! So why cant i hear my audio track when i am precisely editing my project in the grid editor?
The loop points should be much simpler to use , whatever loop point i choose to implement should be created in song/ grid and band master at the moment its a dogs breakfast especially if you also introduce the DAW then it really becomes a chore.
Keep it simple! Remember the name EAZY DRUMMER! dont forget this name as you design.
This is feedback from trying to do one simple thing as a first time user that hasnt even looked at all the possabilities yet so i expect to be finding a lot more issues, i was hoping this was going to be my answer to a simple need and that is place a drum track to an audio file in stand alone mode.
Using a daw helps but it is so frustrating to use due to some of those things i mentioned and i am pretty shure i will find more if i use it longer.
Love you sounds and general feel but the overall conceipt has missed the mark.
Hope to see it improve soon.
cheers Damir
