Is it possible to have MONO BUS in SD3 Mixer so I can send my Kick BUS to a Mono track in PT12

    Hi,

Track and Bus outputs are all Stereo in SD3 but how I go about it is to pan in the SD3 mixer and then create a Mono track in PT and set the Input to the L or R part of the track.
E.g. if I have 3 Kick faders I want on a Mono Instrument/Aux Track in Pro Tools, I select them in the SD3 mixer, set them to output 3/4 and pan them hard Left.
Next, I create my Mono track in PT and set the input to SD3 3/4.L.

I just don’t understand how Toontrack on version 3 of there flagship software don’t know that a Kick is Mono.
Please if someone can illuminate me please do !

Thanks again and have a nice day

    Hi,

the mono signal from e.g. the Kick is still a Mono signal if you route it to a Stereo Output, the only difference would be in volume due to panning law.
Hard-wiring track widths and outputs to instruments would not make the SD3 VI particularly flexible. All kinds of library expansions have their own unique setup in terms of instruments and microphones. Having 16 Stereo outputs and letting the user route his/her way in each scenario regarding to which Library is loaded and which DAW is used seems the most flexible to me.
But you are of course always welcome to put in a Request in the Requests & Feedback section.

John I would like to put in a request. Many of us are using SD3 in a live environment. We’re having to deal with inflexible interface channels and stereo outs.  I need to be able to assign all bass drums to one interface channel, all snares to another and so on. Putting left and right panning into the equation puts 2 instruments on one fader. How come i cant go right from the internal mixer to another out bound mixer straight up…I’ve been reading this same from many..
