Hello,
the new functions of EZdrummer 3 read great!
In this case, however, I (unfortunately) only own Superior Drummer 3. Music is “only” my hobby and I don’t earn any money with it. An additional purchase of EZdrummer 3 would therefore be very expensive for me and actually unnecessary if the functions in SD3 are upgraded.
Are there any plans or information on whether the following functions will be integrated into SD3 in the near future or do I have to buy EZdrummer 3 additionally in order to enjoy the new functions?
For example
That would be great and I hope you can give an honest answer for SD3 users.
Thanks a lot!
Best regards
Nico

I own both SD3 and EZ Drummer, I keep getting the emails to upgrade EZD. Waiting on the the next version of SD, I would hate to pull the trigger on EZ Drummer 3, and then Bam.
how do SD3 and EZdrummer 3 compare, CPU wise?
is there even a reason now to have superior drummer instead of EZD3?
Yes because it has great edrummer support. More extensive libraries and editing capabilities to name two. I would t use any of the ezdrummer features anyway. For me it is by far a better instrument.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Various keyboards and outboard gear as well as VST instruments. Acoustic drums: Yamaha 9000 natural wood and Pearl masters. Various snare drums. RME BabyFace Pro FS and Adam A7X monitors
More to the point of what Mark is saying, greater control of your drum design and mixing. EZD3 is great when you just want drums that are ready to go and don’t want to spend much time producing them. However, I find myself needing far more as far as drums go and SD3 fits my needs.

Looking for quality of life upgrades here. The recent addition of the graphical display of the mapping was nice. But I want to have mapping presets that group related things together. All cymbals and cymbal articulations across the same key range, etc. for all the other drums, BD with BD’s, Toms with Toms, etc. So if want wants to edit things in the DAW it’s easy and not a “search and destroy” mission.
Boo !!!
For Tap2Find, in EZdrummer 3 you can draw the notes in and add/remove individual notes to get the precise pattern you want.
In Superior, you cannot draw notes in, and there is no way to remove individual notes. One note is not in the right place for the kick? You have to remove all the notes for the kick and start again. Furthermore, the playhead cursor only shows once you have entered at least one note, so half the time you start playing the pattern in the middle of the Tap2Find sequence and you need to delete everything and play a game of roulette to hope you’re playing at the top of the sequence.
It doesn’t sound like a big deal, but if you use Tap2Find a lot, Superior is much less fun (and often much more frustrating) from a songwriting perspective once you have tried the EZdrummer 3 Tap2Find.
I’d love to see this Tap2Find workflow implemented in Superior, and I can’t think of a great reason to not do so.
My thing is, I just want the EZ Drummer 3 library. That live room sound is right up my alley. I’m trying to imagine why Toontrack wouldn’t make this an SDX for the SD3 users and I’m drawing a blank here.
Seems like my favorite Toontrack releases have been EZXs in the last couple of years. That Signature EZX is my favorite, by far.
Keep the functions, give me the sounds, haha…
