I don’t want to have to download the libraries for the SDX files again. They are all located within a single folder on a ssd. How do I do this? I did this once before and I had to download and reinstall every library (I own almost all of them) I do not want to have to do this again and I assume there must be a way.
Thanks for any assistance.

Hi there,
Using Toontrack Product Manager, download and install Superior Drummer 3 (just the application/plug-in). Authorize via Product Manager.
Start SD3, it will complain that there are no sample libraries and give you the option to navigate to the folder on your SSD.
You can either, authorize each SDX as you select them in SD3 or authorize them all in Product Manager.

I don’t think that will work in the op’s case. He’s installing on a new machine and he has the library downloads stored on an ssd. The Product Manager won’t see that ssd and expects to download everything once again and that’s what the op doesn’t want to do. There’s no obvious way to tell the PM to look at the ssd. It’s like I downloaded the surround and height surround files for SD3 and didn’t want to install them at initial install. If I want to install them I have to download those two large files again from the net.

As long as he downloads SD3 (application) and starts it up, SD3 will allow him to navigate to the folder where they reside on the SSD. And your right, I forgot a step… after SD3 finds them, go back to Product Manager > View > Refresh Product List… the “Authorize All Products” popup should display.

You’re still missing what he wants to do. He doesn’t want to run them from the ssd. Even so SD3 won’t know about any SDX’s he has. SD3 only knows about what’s installed through the Product Manager. And as I said the PM won’t see that ssd he wants to install from as it can’t be set to anything other than one’s download folder.
Like I said I have the 2 surround files for SD3 on a spinner where I keep all my installers & downloads. I can’t install those 2 files using the PM because I can’t point the PM to where they are stored.

I was under the impression he did want to run them from the SSD. I was thinking they were installed there and he just wanted to point SD3 to that location. My mistake.
I have an SSD with all Toontrack samples on it. When I build a new host I just plug it in and start SD3 navigate to the folder where the SDXs are stored, authorize through PM and I’m good to go.
In the case of having all the install source files in one place, go to PM > preferences and point the downloads folder to where they are installed. Although the button says “download” once it sees the file you are trying to install from it will change to Verify and then Install, rather than download. Also something I do all the time having 3 systems using the same download location and sample location.
Anyway, that’s all I got.

Thanks for that as it worked a treat here. Even going from the spinner I mentioned (7200 rpm jobbie in one of my 2012 Mac Pro’s drive bays) to my internal ssd in a card slot it took maybe 10 minutes to get the surround file ‘downloaded’ (from the spinner) and installed on the ssd where I have my samples stored. Don’t know if I’ll do the height surround stuff.

Brad:
Like you said hopefully the op will get some help out of this. I knew there had to be a way to futz with the PM to get done what is needed here.
I learned a long time ago to keep downloads of everything saved off to a safe place so I don’t have to worry if the developer I purchased from is still around and has an archive of old downloads.
