Installing and Authorizing Pre-owned Programmes

I purchased a second-hand version of Drumkit From Hell from Amazon.co.uk not that long ago.

The installation process went swimmingly but the authorisation is where it’s been proving a bitch!
It doesn’t want to authorise the programme because it’s apparently still registered on another account.

Is this common with second-hand purchases, and is there any way to get it authorised for use?
