I went ahead and tried to install, I tried to change to pathway to Cprogram filesToontrack and the media to Cprogram filescakewalkVSTfolder. It would not change to that but would add (x86). IT did allow me to choose cakewalk VSTfolder. Then when I tried to install I got a bunchof 1309 error message boxes.

OK, I think I found the answer to the 1309 errors, I am extracting all now. Then will install again. Will try again.

I have never had so much trouble with a product. It is ver 131 or 1.3.1

OK, I have downloaded and updatd to 64 bit however in my DAW synth list (Sonar X1) EZDrummer is still listed as TT106win>install>program files>Toontrack>EZDrummer. It is like a tree I have to select one to get to the next, then finally to EZDrummer which, when I click, will open.. this seems wrong. Did I do something srong along the way.
When I installed the 64bit version I chose Cprogram filesToontrack

    Thanks,

    Julien

you have to change the VST path to look for the 64 bit .dll which on my laptop when I was testing it was loacated under Program files/Cakewalk/VSTplugins/64bit.
Once you get the correct path set it shoudl work fine.

oh ya as far as your path when I used teh 64 bit upgrade I do not remember changing the default path as I believe it will mess up teh future upgrades and all that is really 64 bit that I found was teh .dll as I had my 32 bit one loaded as well as my DAW is 32 bit but I wanted to see if there was any difference in quality when using Toontrack solo 32bit and 64 bit so I had both installed but only remember ezdrummer itself loaded in programs files (86)

The thingis this…. if I was changing pickups in my guitar or fixing a leaky faucet it would be no problem. My problem is that you can answer and I stlll dont get it. I really need an explaiation fro dummies aussuming I know nothing because I know very little… the transition from pool and pinball to nintendo was over my head.
I am still confused. I apologize and I know that some don’t understand what is s hard for me but take my word for it… I don’t yet understand… I will stay at until I do but I ain’t there yet.
I appreciate any help, you have to understand I don’t get it and am becomiing really frustrated. I haven’t spent all day on this but I have spent part of 4 or 5 days on it, I am tired and discouraged.

    Thanks…

I will try searching for that and if I find it I will add it to the places to be scanned for VSTs.

No I totally Understand I was quite Confused and frustrated with almost everything when I first started playing Guitar again from understanding what were economy models to premium one, and then on to programs when I quit playing all recording stuff was analog there were no compuers, Internet, Drum programs( just Drum machines) so It has been a learning process for me too, I will try to make my explainations as I would of wanted back when I first started, BTW what DAW are you useing I did not catch that,
I can only give you exact locations according to what I am using which was SONAR HS7 Before I upgraded to SONAR X1 Essential which unfortunately is only 32 bit but I did try the 64 bit as I had mentioned so I will do what I can to help.

    For 64-bit installation.

First, download the full EZdrummer product from your Toontrack account. Login and navigate to your My Products page and select EZdrummer. Then click the red ‘PC’ button. While you are there, download the latest version of EZdrummer (1.3.1). This update includes both 32-bit and 64-bit version of the EZdrummer plugin.

Next, extract and install the full EZdrummer product that you downloaded. This will install the 32-bit version of EZdrummer. But don’t worry, it is required to have both 32-bit and 64-bit version even if you just want to use the 64-bit version only.

From the ‘Important ReadMe’ file that is included in the latest version update (1.3.1):

The installers included in this archive update EZdrummer to the latest version. A previous installation of EZdrummer is therefore required. Furthermore, you MUST install the 32 bit version of EZdrummer and patch it using the included 32 bit updater if you wish to use the included 64 bit update!

Next, to continue from the ‘Important ReadMe’:

If your computer is running a version of Windows made for 64 bit processors and you intend to use EZdrummer in a 64 bit host, double click the EZdrummer 32 bit Updater included in this archive and follow the on-screen instructions. Once the process has been completed, double click the EZdrummer 64 bit Updater included herein and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please make sure to point the 64 bit updater to the dedicated VST plugins folder your host is using (or use the suggested path and add it to your host plug-in manager after the installation has taken place).

Again, you must have a previous version of EZdrummer (32 bit) installed or the updaters will refuse to work.

Next, if the above steps have been followed, the 64-bit version should be located in the VST Plugin folder where your other 64-bit plugins are located. If not, you should be able to set the path to the default 64-bit location which is ‘C:Program FilesVstPluginsToontrack64bit’. How to set the path for your particular host should be explained in your host’s manual.

    Thanks Spudler.

I am using Windows 7 64bit and Sonar X1Expanded with the latest hotfix.

I think I am alomst there. I just think I misstepped somewhere along the line. I am going to uninstall once again and start over following Scott’s instructions, I WILL be sure to come back and post my results. I did unstall the 32 bit then came back and got the 64 bit, so that I have both 32 and 64 SOLOs on my desktop. I think I missed the step Scott missed (thanks Scott) about getting the onscreen instructions and ended up with it installed but in a weird way.

    I’ll try again today.

Thanks guys and thanks for understanding. I’ll be 60yo next month and I think I am lucky to know what I do abouth computers… some of my education came from having to deal with malware that I got with a wandering mouse. I became an expert for a while with hijackthis and malwarebytes.. but I can’t seem to simply install a program. I am terrified that I will get it installed then have to learn to use it… laff. It is so much easier to plug a cord into my amp and hit the switches and go deaf…

    Thanks Scott.

I am going to copy/paste your instructions to my notepad for easy access and with your permission… if I run across someone having trouble on the Cakewalk forum I will repost this with credit to you. I don’t know if they will allow a hyperlink but I will mention I got it off the Toontrack forum from Scott in MA… if it is OK with you. Also, I am emailing a blow by blow acount of what I am doing and what the result is to Dave at gatortrax. I think he is interested in what a newbie is experiencing, he has a pretty good thread on installing and using EZDrummer. I don’t know the URL but you can google gatortrax recording forum, erwise you’ll get all terrain vhicles. He has a lot of in depth infor on the mixer and on everything about how to use EZDrummer.

Thanks and let me know if you object to me sharing this post.

    Thanks… Got it!!

I had everything installed just not everything in the right place and pointed right and added…whew.

I moved TT106WIN to C:Program FilesVstPluginsToontrack64bit as Scott advised, then added C:program filesvstplugins to the folders to be scanned. I had to add Toontrack64bit to C:program filesvstplugins.

I opened a project in X1E and opened Preferences and opened Cakewalk plugin manager x-64, opened VST instruments, highlighted EZDrummer and hit ADD.

That did it, now EZD 64bit is available in the right place (VSTplugins) in the browser synth rack and it is simply EZDrummer and it works!! Now I just have to remember where to put expansion packs but that shouldn’t be a problem… heh.

    Thanks all.

    Julien,

Go ahead and share any info in my post. Most of the info was taken from the ‘Important ReadMe’ file that is located in the update download of EZdrummer version 1.3.1.

No need to credit me as, like I said, I just copied and pasted it myself
