Install EZX expansion at custom location

I have just bought a mean gaming machine so I have to re-install, or move, all my Toontrack libraries. With the EZX expansions I don’t get an option to choose the installation location which means they go on my precious SSD drive. That is clearly unnecessary. How do I install them on my computer’s hard drive instead?

Hi,

as you’re on Windows and do not have EZdrummer 2, I think the easiest way would be to uninstall all drum sample player plugins (not the sounds!) and EZplayer Pro.
Next, you can re-install the Superior 3 or EZPlayer Pro plug-in and perform a Custom install. Then you should be presented with the option to set the location for your ‘EZHOME’ repository, i.e. where all your Toontrack MIDI and EZdrummer EZX:s will be installed, e.g. ‘(Large drive) E:Toontrack’.
When this is done, you should be able to move the entire ‘EZdrummer’ folder from your system, located either @ ‘C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesToontrackEZDrummer’ or ‘C:Program Files (x86)ToontrackEZDrummer’ to your external drive, in the example above: ‘(Large drive) E:Toontrack’.
The next time you start SD3 (or the other plug-ins), it should pick up the MIDI and EZX:s correctly.

Thanks very much for the quick reply. I am not too keen on the uninstall/install sequence since in Windows those operations are not as clean as they should be. In Superior Drummer 2 you can add library paths at any time which is a much nicer way to manage moving data to a different directory. I am sure you have a good reason for removing that option from SD 3 but from the user’s point of view it creates a problem that wasn’t there before. For now I will keep going with 11.5GB of unnecessary data on the program SSD drive.
