I used MIDI from Rock Songs and Ballads in the same songs and noticed they were quite different in volume. I had to raise the Ballads MIDI to Velocity = 31 to match the MIDI from Rock Songs. If I were not careful or if the difference was more subtle, I may not have noticed this at all.
So, is there a more automatic way to match levels?
No automatic way.
The MIDI is played by real drummers with their own feel and velocity. I would imagine a drummer playing a Rock Song would play it with a different velocity than a drummer playing a Ballad. The matching of the velocities is on you, the producer. It’s part of the song making process. If the difference was more subtle, then it wouldn’t be a problem, no?

I think the best way is to send the tracks to your DAW using the multi-channel option and using automation to try and match the incontinent velocities in EZDrummer. You still get the same sound with it, but you can dial in each drum the way you want without messing around with velocity in MIDI. Just my two cents….
