FL studio user here, can anyone show me how to import a midi file such as chords into SD3 and SD3 would automatically find the most appropriate groove for me? A similar analogy would be the function in Logic Pro X’s artist drummer function. I’m kinda looking for that
thanks so much
I don’t know about that exact function but I did wanted to make sure that you know about the Tap2Find function which is on the grooves page. Here you can play a simple (or not) drum beat directly into SD3 from your controller and when you’re done SD3 will find the grooves that are closest to the beat you played in.
I use this when I kinda know what I am looking for. I just play a basic beat into SD3 (usually just kick and snare) and let it find what’s close (or exact) to what I am looking for.
Hope this helps!

Cubase Pro, Korg Kronos, M-50, Hammond XK-1c, Toontrack SD3, EZBass w/lots of expansions, many VSL Vi's, Shreddage 3 everything, and shit-tons of FX plugins.
Hi,
a function to analyse chords and suggest grooves to go with the chords does not exist. The Tap2Find Mike is writing about helps you find grooves and you have Search filters to help you narrow the results.

Thanked by: Mac McCormickJust to clarify, Logic’s Drummer doesn’t work like this either. It’s not some magical “groovinator” type of feature. It doesn’t do the work for you. You still have to select the groove you want to play and shape its complexity and dynamics, and it is a bit more of a manual process than using Tap2Find and Edit Play Styles, as mentioned above. Drummer won’t automagically find a beat for you.
The “Follow Track” basically takes the groove you’ve chosen and will remove kick or snare hits based on the absence of corresponding transients on the track you’ve set to follow. However, this is more useful for tracks that have some sort of groove to it, rather than say playing a straight eighth note beat against a straight eighth note bass line.
You can exercise the same control using the SD3 using the grid editor, manually removing hits you choose, rather than letting the computer decide. The up side is that you can also add hits, which Follow Track does not do.
