During the initial install I pointed the installer at my D drive and to the existing Program Files folder(Vista 32). I thought it would create the Toontrack folder and then generate and populate the other subfolders there, but it didn’t. Then I tried to consolidate them into a common Toontrack folder that I later created. When I subsequently launched BeatStation, the browse option doesn’t let me select the newly-created Toontrack folder! How do I remedy this? I need to tidy things up because that Program Files folder has other major content folders in there such as IK Multimedia, Native Instruments, Addictive Drums, etc.
Uninstall the ‘Beatstation Core Content’ from ‘Control Panel’->’Programs and Features’. Make sure to delete any folders that remain from your moving things after install. Then run the Content installer again and select exactly where you what the sounds to be installed to. IOW, if you need to create a ‘Beatstation Sounds’ folder first, do so and select that location to install to.

Thanks for your prompt reply Scott. Do you think that perhaps instead of having to uninstall and then reinstall 1.63 GB of content and introducing fragmentation into my HDD I might be able to use the “repair” utility in the content installer? iow- I’ve created a folder “Toontrack” adjacent to where the content files where initially installed. If I where to drag these content folders into that folder and then run the repair function would the installer see that the files are already there once I point it to that folder and then give me the option to “skip” installation of the files?
Furthermore, why didn’t the alert message let me select where I had moved my content to when I tried this in standalone mode? When I navigated to where the content was it didn’t let me select the directory when I clicked on it. I even tried to type the the location manually but when I clicked “open” it just went back to the grey dialog box as if it didn’t recognize my selection?

No, ‘repair’ will re-splice files that it can’t find i.e in this instance would duplicate the content.

Thanks again Scott. btw- is there some preferred syntax that I should use when naming the folder where the content is going to be installed? (I was going to create: D:Program FilesToontrack) The reason I ask is because I bought some expansion kits(Jazz and Electronic) and I want to make sure that they get installed correctly on that data drive.
Is your ‘D’ drive an internal/external drive that is separate to your main drive? I have all of my Toontrack samples on an external hard drive. For example, my Beatstation content is located at ‘F:Beatstation’, my EZdrummer packs are located at ‘F:EZdrummer’, and my Superior Drummer sound libraries are located at ‘F:Superior Drummer’.

My D: drive is a secondary internal HDD. I’ll reinstall the BeatStation content in a folder called BeatStation I guess, but what about the EZX’s? This time I want to make certain that BeatStation sees them and that they show up in the appropriate subfolders in the browser. I noticed that there already exist categories for EZ and SD libraries.

Install expansion packs to the correct location. IOW, EZXs to the EZ folder.

As long as you don’t manually move things after install, Beatstation should find it’s contents correctly.

Sorry Scott, I forgot to mention that BeatStation is my first Toontrack product so I don’t know what the “correct” location should be. Where should I point the expansion paks installers so that they can be used within BeatStation? The same directory to where I install the BeatStation content?
On PC, you can select the ‘Custom’ install option for EZX expansion packs and select where the sounds are installed. All subsequent libraries will be installed there as well. As long as they aren’t manually moved after, Beatstation should find them (the location is written to the Windows registry).
Like I said above, my EZdrummer libraries are installed in a folder I created named ‘EZdrummer’ on an external hard drive. I used the ‘Custom’ install option to do so.
I would also recommend downloading the full installers for EZX from your Toontrack account and not install from a disc (if you have discs). If you purchased a digital download version of the EZXs, nevermind. The download installers use the most up-to-date installers.
