Hi All,
I am a hobbyist. I purchased the EZD3 bundle with the Pop! and Post-Metal EZXs. I have a Roland TD-17KVX Gen2 E-drumset with 4 toms. I notice on some of the Pop presets, and all of the Post-Metal presets, that there are only 3 toms. Before I go punching buttons at random, I thought I’d ask a couple of questions here:

@Shootie I don’t have a DAW. I am using EZD3 as a stand-alone app.
When you say “multiple instances” what do you mean? Mulltiple running copies of EZD3? Or is an “instance” just the thing that is created when you “save it in the upper middle drop down menu ‘Save As’.”?
You can’t add toms to a kit. Ezdrummer 3’s Main and Bright Rooms have five toms, as do at least some of the metal EXPs, and Progressive.
Time to start using a DAW so you can use multiple instances of EZ, or find a preset to work with that has the amount of toms you need, or upgrade to superior, or accept the limitation. I’m afraid that’s it for you.
Free DAWs exist, or better, quality inexpensive DAWs exist too.

5 Instances of EZ would be 5 separate tracks in your DAW each with it’s own EZdrummer plug in loaded into it… or as many as your computer can handle.
So you load up a 2nd instance of EZ, for example, and put your extra toms on it and map them to your extra ekit toms. Both instances will work at the same time. Instance is common lingo.

Also, you’re on Mac, you have Garageband, you have a quality free DAW.

Thanks, @Shootie. I haven’t ever used a DAW which is why i don’t know common lingo. Appreciate the lesson 🙂 I’m just a hobbyist drummer, not a hobbyist recording engineer 😀
