HI
I just paid to upgrade to Ezdrummer 3 and bought an Expansion. I want all the samples on an external SSD as I don’t have space on my main drive. The ToonTrack Product manager doesnt seem to allow for alternate install locations
I followed the only advice I’ve found from Toontrack, so copy the whole folder from Library/application support/Ezdrummer and then point Ezdrummer to it afterwards.
So I moved the Ezdrummer 2 and 3 Core libraries and my expansions to the external drive, and then open Ezdrummer 3 and it says ‘please install Ezdrummer 3 core library’. There is no option to locate it.
Then if I go to ‘Settings/libraries and paths’ It shows Library/application support/Ezdrummer, and if I click it has ‘Locate Folder’ but its greyed out! So I can’t do anything
its driving me mad, as I really need to use this. Please help me Toontrack! it should be simpler than this

Since the path shown in Settings is “/Volumes/Samples 2/Samples/Toontrack”, it is this Toontrack folder that needs to not exist for the “Locate” menu entry to become available. I suggest you do like this:
Your “Toontrack/Midi” folder will not be used for MIDI but “Toontrack/EZdrummer 3/Midi” will be used (even by SD3), so you can move what you have in the former to the latter.

If there is a config file I can edit to change the path I am definitely competent to do that.
If you find it easier, you can edit the SourcePath entry in /Users/Shared/Toontrack/Preferences/com.toontrack.superior.auezdrummer.plist
. That is what determines where EZX and MIDI libraries are looked for (the MIDI in a Midi subfolder).

Thanked by: BradOk, guys, I am back. And thanks are in order. First to Brad. Using your technique I was able to prompt the Locate Folder option and that allowed me to point to the correct directory. That simple thing fixed my problem. Thank you my friend, I am indebted.
Olaf, you offered another option that was essentially the same thing. Thank you for this. I do believe it would’ve worked. I also appreciate the SourcePath edit option. I would’ve done that if Brad’s idea hadn’t worked.
Thank you two for helping me!
My recommendations: 1) fix this in your software to make this easier for us and for you. 2) while you’re tweaking Product Manager, make the other changes so we don’t have to personally approve every update and change we make to the installations. As I noted before, I suggest one overarching path for samples. 3) while you’re getting that done, put this fix as part of your FAQ or something. This is the fix that works for us and it should be easy to find.
All that said, thanks once again!

Thanked by: ChrissoMac and BrianIs the same true for EZDrummer 2?
If editing the SourcePath, how/where would users indicate the external drive in the string below?
/Users/Shared/Toontrack/Preferences/com.toontrack.superior.auezdrummer.plist
.
