It made an automatic Chords analyse, but Ezbass is wrong on them ! it’s only a C during the 8 bars (he found other stuff). so i wanted to put a C on the 8 bars, but of course, it change the notes… is there a way to do that ?

Just remove the chords and use the Pen Tool to draw new chords. You can also double click chord(s) that you want to correct. In the chord editor – click Correct… and enter the chord that it should be. This won’t move the notes like a regular chord change.

I didn’t found a way to convert a whole groove from finger alternate to all Slap in one go, instead i must change  it one note per note, is there a quicker why to do it ?

In the Grid Editor: you select all notes, then go to the Articulations menu and select the articulation you want (slap/pop for example).

so now i want to save it as a user midi, but how can i change the name of the groove, the tag (to Slap.. he see it as bassline + Hard).

After you dragged it to the User MIDI folder – right click the file and select Rename.

Once saved as user midi, unfortunatly , it’s not saved as “Slap”, but use other technic (by default). use “no name”, so can’t give a name, a style (jazz) etc.. how to save it so it will use the Slap sound i programmed and not the default finger one ?

Hm. Can you try the following:

    • On the Song Track – click Add Groove to get a simple 8 bar groove.
    • Go to the Grid Editor
    • Select all notes
    • In the articulations menu – select slap/pop
      • now the groove should play slap/pop if you preview it
    • Drag the 8 bar groove to User MIDI
    • Preview it in User MIDI – it should play slap/pop

    Does that work?

Hi , thanks for the answer !

    1. i’m certainly doing something wrong but if i’m following your steps, the notes change.
    2. if i’m doing this, it convert all the articulations (Ghost, Palm etc) to Slap/pop, it doesn’t convert alternate -> Slap, Ghost to Ghost Slap, and percussive right hand to percussive left hand. everything must be redone by hand.
    3. yes renaming work ok of course but i’m talking about the Tags. for example,  here it says resolution 1/4 , but it’s not, wer’e more closer to 16th note ;-). the note i programmed were only using Slap , ghost slap etc, but it’s written as Bassline, and Hard. so when i import it again in the timeline, it’s not playing with the slap sound but with the alternate/finger one.
    4. yes of course it’s working ! the issue, is that… the audio loop i’m converting is a slap groove. in the audio tracker unfortunatly we only can listen to alternate playing, no Slap… once converted and put in the song track, i modify each articulation to sound with Slap, but even after modifying everything with slap sound, once it’s saved as user midi, if we import again the groove we saved, it doesn’t keep all the articulations programmed using only slap, slap ghost, etc… it’s back to finger/alternate etc..

I can make a video showing all this, to see better what/where i’m doing something wrong (if i’m doing something wrong).

You have to change this manually, but you can use the Select menu to select all notes of a certain articulation.

    • For example, go to Select menu and chose Alternate.
      • now all Alternates will be selected
    • In Articulations menu – select slap/pop
      • now all Alternates has been changed to slap/pop
    • Go to Select menu and chose Ghost Notes
    • In articulations menu – select Ghost Slap
      • now all Ghost Notes will be changed to Ghost Slaps
    • Do this for each kind of note you want to transform…

yes renaming work ok of course but i’m talking about the Tags. for example,  here it says resolution 1/4 , but it’s not, wer’e more closer to 16th note ;-).

The tags doesn’t change what the MIDI file will play – the tags are merely there to enable users to filter grooves on certain criteria.

the note i programmed were only using Slap , ghost slap etc, but it’s written as Bassline, and Hard. so when i import it again in the timeline, it’s not playing with the slap sound but with the alternate/finger one.

So, when you drag it to User MIDI it has Slap articulations, but when you drag it back to the Song Track it plays Alternates?

yes of course it’s working ! the issue, is that… the audio loop i’m converting is a slap groove. in the audio tracker unfortunatly we only can listen to alternate playing, no Slap…

Yeah, currently the Tracker can’t add Slap/Pop. You should track the audio as Alternates, and when done – drag the result to the Song Track and change the articulations in the Grid Editor.

    Hi thanks for the infos.

    • i deleted the user midi i had before, re saved it in user midi and now the Slap sound is keep, no idea what’s happened before.
    • Thanks for the tip about filtering by articulation it will make the process a bit quicker !
    • Hope to see the slap articulations being available in the audio tracker in a future update 😉

I still have the issue with the chord changing my user groove, it’s pretty normal as it’s how Ez bass work, but here, i need to change the chords without having the notes changing, how can i do it ? here is a video showing what i’m doing (wrong)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NC8ni0J7Og

    Thanks for the help !

When you extend a chord (by dragging its edge) all notes beneath will adjust to fit that chord, and that’s what’s happening in the video.

    You need to either:

    • Draw a chord with the pen tool. Draw it in one drag so it covers the entire area it should cover.
      • If you just draw one bar, and then extend it – the notes will change (as in the video)
    • If you have chords that you just want to “correct” (change notation without changing any MIDI notes):
      • Double click the chord(s)
      • In the Chord Editor, press the Correct… button
      • Enter the chord that you want to change the notation to

In your video example – removing all chords and drawing one large chord over the 8 bars should analyse it to a C

    • If EZbass thinks it’s another chord – double click it an Correct is – as I explained above 🙂

Thank you so much ! i use a so bad monitor (17″ analog CRT of 20 years old) that i didn’t even noticed and saw the word “correct” in the chords listing lol !
Thanks too about the extend pen tool, i Didn’t know this feature as well, it fixed everything !

    Thank you !!

    No problem!

Another thing to notice – if your chords get a next to it, it means that EZbass thinks it needs to be corrected.

    • For example, have a C chord set, and move all the notes (in the Grid Editor) to G.
    • The chord will say C*, and when you double click it, the Correct… button will be lit up, and suggest the chord to be corrected to G.

We will release movies about how all this works, so stay tuned 🙂

thanks for the tip  about the * , didn’t know that too !

here, anyway he couldn’t correct anything (lol), Patitucci played a Cm line(Cm7sus4) but all his long C note was taking one full bar, so Ezbass couldn’t know it was a Cm because the Bb, Eb and F note where played far after. and as C and Bb is seen as a C7 and 7 is not part of ez bass (yet ? 😉 )

all this is very interesting anyway, lovely piece of software, bravo !!! :-).

Remember to set the Song Key correctly. C notes will be seen as C major chords if the song key is C major. If you set the song key to C minor, the chords will be interpreted based on that song key 🙂

If you want to change Song Key, but not transpose any MIDI – select the No Transpose sub menu in the Song Key selector (below the song track).

ahaha, wow, you’re correct lol,at first, it was setup in Cmajor, and i changed it to Cm using the “no transpose” AFTER doing the conversion lol !

ho my 🙁 really, it needs some nice tutorial, it’s mainly a bad use of the software (on my case anyway). i learned more in this topic that since i purchased it, thank you very much for the help all the best !!
