how to sync to tascam midi out ?

i have EZdrummer & EZplayer & solo on my laptop.
i have a DP01 tascam digital 8track, which has MIDI out.
i have midiman midisport 2×2 converting MIDI out from tascam to USB into my laptop.

i want EZplayer/drummer to start when i hit play on the tascam.

i tried setting tascam MIDI out to both ‘CLK’ and ‘MTC’.
i made sure metronome is set to ON from the tascam, sent to MIDI when i hit play.

i tried using the ‘learn’ for the play button for a track on EZplayer.
i thought the MIDI out CLK from the tascam would work.
but it didnt.

also, if i go to EZplayer, MIDI menu : devices,
it says no MIDI input detected.

should this work? has anyone succeeded with a similar setup?
maybe a device driver problem with the midman midisport?

what do you mean by ‘EZplayer, MIDI menu : devices’, is this in Toontrack solo? Anyway the short answer to your question is that only MIDI notes can be learned, not transport information so even if you get solo to recognize your device you will not succeed in achieving what you are trying to do.
