    Hi,

assuming you mean using your own samples, you drag and drop e.g. the Rim sample to the Snare and select to Stack it with e.g. the Sidestick.

This means both the original SD3 sound and the dropped sample will be triggered but you can select the original sound Stack member and Mute or lower the the volume if you only wish to hear the dropped sample.

The other way is to drop in samples as new Instruments but then you need to unload and/or un-map the articulations you are replacing and then assign those note numbers to your new Instruments.

Thanks John – I may not have explained it clearly enough. I’m not looking to drop my own samples, just mix and match samples that come with SD3 so that I can make the most of my edrum controller….

I would rather use the rubber rims on my Vdrums toms to trigger electronic sounds instead of the default acoustic rim sounds that would normally load with a kit preset. Whats the easiest way to do this?  I tried doing Select Parts but it swaps out the entire drum, I also tried using the Search screen but it just adds the electronic sound as a stack to the existing sound.

Should I be doing what you mention in your last paragraph? Is that the best way to accomplish what i want to do?  I wish we could just click the rim of the drum with the mouse, right-click and assign a new sound like that without affecting the head.

As John stated, all you really need to do is stack the sound you want on top of the desired articulation, and lower the volume of your acoustic kit articulation. Only your stacked sound will play when you trigger than articulation.

OK so just to confirm, no need to change anything in the MIDI/eDrums Settings tab correct?

This is all done from the Search window, the Drums tab, and the MIDI Mapping side panel?

No need to MIDI map anything. Right click your kit piece and the stack on to the articulation. Then click on the acoustic kit piece in your stack and in the Level tab, either lower or mute it. Triggering the articulation will then only sound the stacked item.
