How to install parts 2-5 on an external hardrive

I recently bought SD3 and have downloaded the actual plugin and the core sound library to my computer and I am trying to get parts 2-5 on an external hard drive. I read some other posts that you have to change the download location and it hasn’t worked for me. It still says I need to clear up disk space. Also my external drive is new and has 1TB of usage so I don’t think that’s the problem. Is there anything I should be doing differently?

Hi,

downloading and installing are two different things.
If you have installed Part 1 to one location, you cannot install the other parts to a different location. If you need the library to be on your external drive, first either install to the same location and move it afterwards or move the library, re-link the library location in the Library paths, then install the other parts.

The Download location for your installation files can be set in the Product Manager Preferences.

If you are thinking about the previous Catalina related problems, they should be fixed now. Freshly downloaded installers should work as expected.

So in order to have parts 2-5 installed I need to install part 1 on the drive as well correct?

Yes, either install it on the external drive OR move it to where you want to install the additional library parts. After you move/copy to the external drive/folder start SD3 and use Settings > Libraries/Paths. Select the menu at the end of “Superior Drummer 3” and Select “Change Path”. Navigate to the new path and Open it.

At that point you should be able to shutdown SD3 and go back to PM and install the other parts.

If you move the original library instead of copying then SD3 will complain it can’t find the library at startup and give you the option to “Browse” to find the library in it’s new location.
