If you can open the SD3 file in your DAW you could add the cymbal hits with mallets as a new instrument and edit the midi in SD3

You mean with another instance of SD3? Or is there a wat to get SD3 to play both the normal kit and cymbal stuff with the mallets at the same time?

Same instance of SD3 – from the Drums tab top left there is the Add Instrument menu – under Search for an Instrument you can add any instrument from your library – just filter under mallets and you’ll see all the options you have.

Oh wow that is so simple, I didn’t even know you could do that. Thanks.

No problem – I’m just getting to grips with SD3 as a new user but this was one of the ones that really stood out to me – easy when you know how but not before then.
