Hi folks,
I have spent months creating songs using EZD and SD midi files. I have not been the best about writing down the name of every midi file I used so now I find myself trying to figure out what the midi file titles mean, and how to specifically identify each one.
For example: TMF_S4c_HOVb_V03-Variation_03. I know TMF stands for The Metal Foundry S4c could be either swing 4/4 or straight 4/4 but what does the c mean? HOV is Hats Open Variations, but again what does b mean? I think V03-Variation 03 is basically saying the same thing twice, correct?
The ideal solution would be if there is a “key” somewhere online that I could use to ID each of the hundreds of midi files I have used recently.
Thanks for any help with this one!

There’s a post somewhere where Rogue (I think) went into quite some detail about the key to this puzzle.
The only time I needed to know, I worked my way through iteratively dragging grooves in and looking at the irem names until I found the groove again. It’s not random, it reads and works left to right, it’s just a bind if you want to track down several.
A key would be good, I’ll try and find that post…

SD2.3, NYII, C&V, MC, MF, ED, Latin Perc, Twisted, Pop, N1H, Electronic, Classic, Funkmasters, Rock Solid, Blues, Indie-Folk.
That would be great, thank you! That, or some kind of explanation of how to decrypt the file names.
TMF_S4c_HOVb_V03-Variation_03.
Hi,
This file is from The Metal Foundry (TMF)
Straight 4/4 time signature category #3… 3rd one in the list (S4c)
Hats Open Variation #2, Second song down (HOVb)
Variation 3. (V03)

It would say: TMF_S4Wc_HOV_V03
There is only one song in the Peter Freidlander 4/4 swing section, so no HOVb
Drag a few in from the groove window and see what the item ends up being called. It’s not difficult once you’ve done a few…

So S4 = straight 4/4 and S4W = swing 4/4? Good info, thanks!
Would love to see a key that includes all of this kind of info.
