This is a super simple question and yet I have dug and dug in the manuals and youtube videos and I cannot find anywhere that explains the simple workflow of how you get a groove or any beat I make in SD3 into a Logic track? Is this not possible? I have used Logic’s drummer and moved it to a MIDI file on a separate track where I enable SD3, but I don’t like working with the Logic piano roll and I like the grooves in SD3 much more. Any help with how to reverse my process would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
Pete
All you need to do to get a beat into Logic from SD3 is to drag the groove from SD3’s track to Logic’s instrument track. However, you can just keep it in SD3 and turn on Follow Host if you want. The only real need to drag it into Logic in your case is if you’re going to be shuffling the entire arrangement around.
Side note: regarding Drummer, you don’t need two separate tracks. Just change Logic’s kit to SD3 and you can work with the drummer region using Logic’s Drummer controls. No need to use the piano roll unless you are writing custom parts, which you can intermix with drummer regions. You can do it all in a single track.
