Hello, how would I configure my hit to always have the HH closed or tight, even if my foot weren’t on the pedal?
E.g., for playing live w/ double kick, I want to leave the hat open, but have a closed sound.
Thx,
You could use a HiHat drop clutch; this obviously is a hardware solution.

You could edit the MIDI to do what you want.

Editing would not be an option live though as this was mentioned in the question. A simple option is another pad with only closed articulations on it.
SD3 with older sdx,s plus Rooms of Hansa and Death & Darkness. Cubase and wavelab current versions. Roland TD50x using all trigger inputs for triggering SD3 only. Windows 11 computer. Maybe edit the MIDI mapping in SD3?

well.. I kinda got it. I made this change in settings, but this is now affecting all kits… I want to have this to be kit specific..
Ah, here we go…
I reverted the settings above… then in the kit, assigned the note (26) that was playing Open Edge 3
