How to Enter a No Chord

Yes musically and from a notation p.o.v that would be called a “rest”, good point.

You could cut the block right on the chord if it as simple as downbeats and then right click> properties to delete that chord.
It is basic and does not fully answer the question but in theory should work.

No Chord (N.C.) is different than a rest. When something is marked “N.C.”, it usually indicates that no chord is wanted, but rather play the riff or lick or whatever that is notated there. A riff like Zeppelin “The Ocean” would have N.C. written over the lick, meaning it’s a unison lick with no chords.

Well i wonder which one the OP was wanting and other than what i suggested , how it can be done ?

A true “N.C” would be done in a DAW, or perhaps that measure could be played/recorded. An actual “rest” would be just splitting the file and dragging the second half of the file a measure or so. The only catch is whether the last chord should sustain through the rest or not. That’s easily edited in a DAW, in notation view one can add or delete the sustain end mark.

I am not sure there is a problem here. If you wish for an entered chord to sustain longer, you just extend the right boundary of the part. If you wish for an ’empty space’ between chords, just don’t put the parts next to each other.
If a part is to be empty, why is there a need for one when simply nothing on the timeline does the job?

So,Perhaps we still want the next block to not shift but to continue as was, if the first part or bar needed to stop and sustain on beat two of a phrase/block you chop on three and drag the length of the 2nd beat to cover beats 3&4.?

And yes i know it can be done heaps easier in my daw as i play and program everyday but in this case we are talking about within EZK.
Still not sure this is what the OP asked.

Sorry, I haven’t been looking at the Forum for a couple days. What I was intending was accompaniment silence on the last two beats of a measue while the melody plays by itself; and all this within EZK. I am not using a DAW at this stage of the song. I plan on using the DAW in the future as the song gets more fully developed. So I guess the only way of accomplishing this is to have a 2-measure block of space between actual blocks that have chords in them. Is that right? I think that would accomplish what I need. Thanks for the replies.

Yes, empty space between blocks on the Song Track is the way to do it.
