How to drag user midi to new subfolder

I have made several user midi files, by building them in the timeline, then dragging them up into the user midi library. After making so many, I want to add subfolders to organize them. Easy enough. All subfolders made. Except when I drag my midi to the new subfolders, it creates a copy of it named empty block instead of just moving the file. These seems ridiculous that it would be the default behavior. How do I simply move a single user midi file to a new folder? Doing it in windows explorer just results in errors finding the file within superior.

Hi there, just to clarify, does this happen when you drag MIDI from the timeline to a subfolder or from it’s previous location in User MIDI to a subfolder?

This happens when dragging from its current user midi folder to the new subfolder. So the overall workflow:

1. Create a new drum part in the timeline.
2. Drag to user Midi folder and assign it a useful name.
3. Create a sub folder
4. Drag the file from its current location in user midi to the subfolder.
5. A copy of the file appears in subfolder, with name “empty block”. Original file remains in original place.

Hi,

hopefully I can explain what happens.
If I create subfolders in my User MIDI folder and then create a Groove on the Song Track, then drag it to one said subfolders, it gets the name ‘Track1’ and I rename it to something appropriate. It also gets renamed in the Finder along with the accompanying ‘.midtrackinfo’ file.

If I drag this file in SD3 grooves to another subfolder in User MIDI, it gets copied to the other subfolder and the name it gets, is its original name when created.
I.e. if I record the MIDI to the Song Track 1, that’s its original name. If I start with an empty block, that will be its name. If I start with ‘Verse01’ from a pack, etc.

If you wish to just move around grooves, please use the Finder/Explorer, it’s just a right-click away to open the location of the file. When you have re-organised, remember to ‘Sync File Changes’ of the User MIDI folder in SD3 by right-clicking the User MIDI folder.

Ahah! The sync file changes was the part I was missing. I figured it would be something silly. I had trying just dragging them around in explorer initially but even restarting superior would not trigger them to update. Doing the sync manually has it functioning correctly though. Thank you!
