    Another way is to:

Select the notes you want to duplicate, then option-drag (MAC) them to the new instrument. This makes a copy of the notes instead of just moving them. Should work fine

And if you press Shift+Alt/Option, you constrain the drag vertically.

If you want to specifically copy drum hits (e.g., snare, kick, ride, etc.) — then double click on a block of drums (that show up in Track1 for example) and at the top/middle of the screen, click on GRID EDITOR.

Once you’re in Grid Editor, you can use the selector tool (looks like an arrow) to select one or more drum hits, then right click and copy.  Next, just place the playhead in the grid editor where you want to paste and right click, choose paste.  Perhaps oddly, it doens’t seem to work if you use command+V — so you have to right click and then choose paste.

    Hope this helps.

Here is how to do this – more visually:

    1) double click on a block of drum content in Track1; 2) select Grid Editor; 3) copy and paste as you wish

    Hello!

Is this not possible in edit play style mode or is there a way to do this?

For example if I want to copy midi notes from the tom to a snare (not the Power Hand). If I right click on the tom and select “cut or copy midi” and then select “paste midi tom” on the snare, the tom will always be reactivated and the snare remains without midi notes.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks and best wishes
    Nico

    Hi nicovice,

you’re right, you are supposed to be able to cut/copy from one instrument and paste to another in Edit Play Style, I can’t either.
I have to check with my colleagues but I suspect this function is broken in the current version.

    Hi, John,

thank you for the quick response.
So it should actually work and will be delivered again with an update?

    Best regards

    Hello again,

i also have the same problem like user jthom.

If i copy midi in grid editor e.g like the ride in my first picture and select a different instrument like the cymbals in the second picture and try to copy the events on thy cymbals track, the programm copies the events again on the ride track.(3rd picture)

So, whats the solution for this problem? i dont think any of the answers in this thread gave an answer to this special problem.

Maybe its  also a bug in the current version?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.

OP here.  I just started doing what UncleBass suggested (first response) – just option-drag the notes to the place you want them copied rather than doing a copy/paste command.  Works well for me.

Your right, option-drag works good. Thanks.

Still strange that copy/paste doesnt work.
